So the shady guy gave me the box, and as the loyalist I am, of course I'm going to inspect it first, but how on earth can I report the goods? The evidence get pointed at my daughter. And the only thing I seem to be able to do is sell it to the trade.

I wasn't trying to steal, but the game acts like that was my decision.

Game gave you several decisions: take it and open or take it and pass to the student. If you choose to open - that is your decisioon to steal :)

So, the only "right" thing to do is deny the deal entirely? That seems kind of dumb honestly.

If you take it and open it, you should be able to report what you find.
