Gamepad problems

XBox 360 gamepad just barely works. Inputs often don't register all and when you press 'A' in an interaction menu it regularly opens your right side menu instead.

In 'Settings' I can't find any binding other than the camera controls. Anyway, that can't be the issue though since in theory all inputs do what they are supposed to do. It's just that they in practice refuse to do it half of the time. Also, 'A' in context menus works at times. But at other times the green color of the context symbol goes away and then 'A' opens the side menu -
or does nothing at all instead.

Edit:
After a bit of testing I have found out that the green selection color in the context menus - if it does appear - often immediately disappears again and can't be brought back, no matter in which direction I'm moving the stick or the d-pad. In some cases I mashing the 'A' button really fast helps to perform the action before it automatically gets un-selected.

I have the same Problem in " Beholder 2" , same controller etz. and buttonmashing does not help
