Game save location
I am a linux ( antergos, if it is needed ) user, everything works out of the box, but i can't find any way to change the save location of the game.

It places the save games directly at "$HOME/" directory and this is more annoying than the boss in the game.

I would rather want my save games located at somewhere like $HOME/.local/share, or even "$HOME/.Warm/ Lamp\ Games" ( making it hidden ) is okay. I looked for a config file, but you probably have it in one of .dll files, hard-coded. I would gladly change the .ini file myself every time there is an update, but no luck.

Please fix this, i encountered that on windows you save it directly under My Documents folder, too. A lot of people is not going to like it. Ii know i am not ( and will not ) the one who likes to keep their home directory clean, otherwise i have to refund the game, just because of that.

Dear illegalDisease, unfortunately, there's no way to change saves directory. To make the folder hidden you need to place a dot before its title (e.g .WarmLampGames) but in this case the game won't find your saves.

I know that. Even if i do that, after sync it comes back again. I wouldn't contact you if i could resolve things on my own. Only hope is to fix it. It will just last under 1 minute, i know you can do this :)

We will think what we can do, thank you!

Going to have to echo illegalDisease here. Top level of the home folder is not a great place to put save game data (or anything not regularly accessed by the user, for that matter). Somewhere in $HOME/.local/share would be a lot more welcome. $HOME is a lot more integral to the daily use of Linux than it is in other operating systems, and it is generally best left uncluttered. Probably going to reserve play for this game to my SteamOS box unless this changes.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, though. I do very much appreciate the Linux release. So far it's a very intriguing game.

Also, thank you for engaging us here on the Steam forums!

I'm a mac user who was frustrated by this, just wanted to share my solution:

Create an alias for the folder "Warm Lamp Games," then move the original folder to your desired location. Open up Terminal, then hide the alias using the "chflags hidden" command found here[www.howtogeek.com].

I have the same problem and find the response of the developers surprising. No other Steam game I've seen does this. Surely there are standard locations in the Steam library for this. Polluting my home directory with arbitrary directories and trying to convince me that it is normal is definitely not a good way to keep a customer.

I also had this exact problem and got NO response from the developers at all. As they've not made ANY effort to fix this, or to reply in a less than rude fashion (or in some cases no reply at all), I will just have to be sure to add this developer to my "never buy another game from these folk again" list.

@Ondraash, hello! We are studying this issue and will try to take it into account in the second part of the Game. Unfortantly, it can not be realized now. We apologize any for inconveniences caused.

Can't say that I understand why it would be an issue to push out a simple quick update patch to fix the savegame location. If the code is clean, it should only need a change of ONE path in the code, and then push out the new patch. Problem solved forever.

@Bloo Alien, thank you for your commenting again and participation in the the discussion of improvements

yes, please fix. You should simply use "$HOME/.local/share/" and then append whatever you like as your save directory.

easy solution in Linux is:
create a plain text file named .hidden in your $HOME and write in the file Warm Lamp Games
restart filebrowser (caja, nautilus...) you will no longer see the folder (that works with all other files you dont want to see without a dot in front of the file name, just add to the .hidden file.)
Seegras Sep 13, 2018 @ 8:58am
That depends wholly on the filemanager. And no, Midnight commander doesn't use that .hdden-file https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2e/Mc-screenshot.png So for me, this is useless.

I second the suggestion to move saves to $HOME/.local/share/Warm Lamp Games/ its just best practice and it doesn't clutter the $HOME folder that way.
