found a dog here and I was wondering if he is here for a reason? I could not find any reference about him.

They have added random NPCs (some fight monsters, some just stand or move around, and you can find vendors or a stash NPC), animals, and even props to different locations. Probably nothing more than something fun to see.

You can even find some areas that have monsters around some shrines around maps that can be harder and even offer a good chest with items.
