Black Screen when Exiting to Main Menu and sometimes on launch?

Title says it all. Sometimes when I go to launch the game, the intro plays and the screen stays black, taking a few minutes to load. Sometimes when I exit the game to switch characters or something, the screen goes black and takes a bit to load. Anyone else have issues with this or a solution? It's a pain have to sit and wait to switch a character.

got this in the character selection screen too. i solved it by changing the background from the atlantis one to one of the other 3. looks like something is faulty with the atlantis background causing this intervals of black.

I totally never thought of trying that. Thanks! I'll give it a go. I like the OG background a lot anyway

I too have this issue. reported it a few days ago (on the tq website) with my dxdiag info. it could very well be to do with the starting backround since the rest of the game is fine (except for the fact you can still fall through bridges and other inclines in TQ which im guessing will never be fully fixed since its been going on for years now). happens every 8-10 seconds. guessing it will take them a bit to figure it out.

Find the play Titan quest button at the top right by listening for the menu selection tones as you mouse over where the menu should be, then click Start at the bottom right. Once in game you can change it.

The problem is that i cant even get to the main menu, it crashes before i get there

I just purchased the Atlantis DLC today (and also switched my main menu screen background to the Atlantis motif upon initially starting the updated game).

Then I started getting the black screen whenever logging between characters.

The sound still plays in the background, and I can actually hear my mouse cursor hovering over the menu buttons, so I used this to find my way to the exit button and quit that way, but this has been happening repeatedly: no problem initially starting/logging into Titan Quest, it only happens when I exit the game to the start menu to switch characters.

I've switched my menu screen motif back to 'Ragnarok' and hopefully this will work for me also. I'll report back if it doesn't.

EDIT Update: Switching the start menu background (from 'Atlantis) back to 'Ragnarok' worked for me (so far 🤞). Thank you for the suggestion.

Crashing when exiting to main menu might still happen after a while - as well after having opened several chars as after long-ish sessions. TQ isn't perfect, IIRC that's due to it being memory-leaky.

Your inventory will be saved nonetheless, so... *shrug*

I've personally never experienced any kind of crash while playing Titan Quest, and I'm a loot hoarder with a lot of mule alts that I spend quite a bit of time distributing my hoard to (switching, etc.) - but I'm playing the game on a new-ish Windows 10 (64 bit) rig that I built with 32Gb of RAM, and I think the extra memory helps. (I experience very few hiccups of any sort while playing, really.)

I had no issue on the first time I played after a long time away. Then when I quit I had the Black title screen. Upon booting back up the next day and launching the game 3x in a row, I've got the black screen. Seems weird it worked perfectly fine until I deciding to stop playing lol. Seems like a config save on exit bug or the game wouldn't have worked flawlessly for hours.
