Favorite Regions?
I thought we could switch it up a little bit with favorite regions. I personally LOVE the China region. EExploring the terraces and lore is always fun there, and I feel that it holds true to much of the mythology, It's lovely as a place, and there's a refreshing change throughout. The Jade Emperor is the perfect embodiment of the Daoist philosopher-king, and I very much like him.
Worst area has to be Egypt. SO MANY desert regions. So much bloody sand. Trudging through it with no change is just tiring. I usually just run through it doing completionist stuff and then grind up to the level I should be in the Orient.

I personally love and the feel of the Egyptian area.

I'm with TC on Egypt, it's just... super boring. Thankfully it's also super short.

My favourite area is probably the central European regions around Heuneburg and Glauberg; it reminds me of the wilderness areas from Baldur's Gate, even more so with how you mostly fight bandits, druids and the local wildlife.

Greece and Egypt are the best. I don't understand at all what is connection between titans and Asia, and who among the fans of ancient Greece is interested in China. It would be better to show Babylon normally.
The best act is Egypt, it's pretty fast and has a fork, which is much more fun than the rest of long, tedious, straightforward acts.

Funny, I like the two Atlantis WP areas best - because they remind me of the Act-3 wilderness in Diablo 2... ...and are still worth whole-map-farming to get that elusive Atlantis stuffz.

Parnassus Warcamps in Greece
Road to Temple of Hatshepsut and the dungeon itself in Egypt
Wusao Cavern dungeon in Orient
Olympus
1st half of the act (until Epirus city) , in other words Mediterranean Area and the swamp, and Elysium in Hades
Nerthus cultists lands and Ashlands in Ragnarok
Atlas Mountains in Atlantis

Act 3 in general is pretty nice as you go through all the different areas running through the Silk Road.

Act I - Once you get to the Monster Encampment & Athenian Battleground when the number of monsters picks up. Then in the Knossos Palace, fighting undead and automatoi, two of my favorite enemies, watching the bones and automatoi parts fly.
Act II - Anywhere there's undead, which is a lot. Plus the Valley of the Kings.
Act III - Mostly the whole act is good, except for Forest of the Ancients and a few other forest areas can be a bit meh. Love finding the Dragon Liche once you get to epic.
Act IV - Love the atmosphere when you first step into the Dark Grove, seemed almost eerily familiar.
Act V - I've only played though once, but it seemed good, maybe a few areas were a bit of a maze, probably will be easier to navigate second time around.

I find ACT 1 to be pretty boring until you reach Athens. It's also basically one ridiculously long tunnel. It does improve afterwards, Crete is overall my favorite part of this act.

ACT 2 is surprisingly fast-paced and I enjoy it much more than the first one. Plus the atmosphere and the multiple paths to the objective are great after the very linear first act. My favorite act out of the original game.

ACT 3 is... weird. I don't know how it fits the rest of the game. You get teleported to Babylon, which is fine, but after defeating a boss there, you leave the city and... just walk all the way to China from Babylon, just like that. They could have atleast made it so you travel with a caravan from Babylon to the Himalayas to make this a bit more believable. The ACT 1 Greece corridor is much longer despite the fact that you cross Asia in ACT 3. The fact that the early part of ACT 3 seems to abandon mythological monsters and has you fight dinosaurs and neanderthals also feels like they ran out of ideas.

It also doesn't help that the story essentially gets paused until you actually get to China. Between Babylon Outskirts and China, the only updates on the main plot you get is "Oh, the Telkine came this way hero, keep going". It feels like filler. Compare it with Egypt, which was as long as it needed to be.

Babylon is ok though and the part that actually takes place in China is actually pretty good, it's what happens between those two parts that brings it down.

ACT 4 is probably my favorite act out of them all, I love the general feel of all of the areas, both the greek areas before the Underworld and the Underworld itself. Not sure which one is my favorite, but I really liked the feel of Medea's Grove and Hade's Palace.

ACT 5 is my second favorite, but it has some bad parts. I liked Corinth and how you can see parts of ACT 1 from its associated areas. Beautiful environments all around. Absolutely hate that part where you are supposed to get the mistletoe from the Nerthus cultists though. The Celtic areas were actually the weakest part for me overall, the game picks up once you get the mistletoe, then takes a dive in Valhalla, which is a seriously annoying area. After that, it picks up again. Overall, second after ACT 4 in my book.

Atlantis is like half and act. The first part is about travelling to different locations to get different items. Overall, I really enjoyed these parts. Actually, my favorite is probably the first area, the Necropolis. But I feel like it takes a dive in quality once you actually get to Atlantis. That city is way too big for its own good and it doesn't help that there seems to be only one way forward.

God, thats such an opposite experience, which is kind of cool!
I HATED Act 5. Despite loving the throwing weapons and the new mastery, I had to uninstall the DLC because I hated the entire Norse mythology. It might be because I'm just very tired of Europe, though, living here and all.

LOL, well I'm also from Europe and yeah, other acts are more appealing due to being.. exotic I guess. But I don't hate Act 5.

I didn't like the Celtic areas precisely because they were the least "exotic" out of them all and also pretty dull (well, I liked that one area with the fields, but that's all). Gameplay wise, I also hated Valhalla, but I thought that the actual Norse areas were pretty cool. And I'm not really that much of a fan of Norse mythology either.

Act IV > Act II > Act V > Act I > Atlantis > Act III

I consider Act IV to be the overally the best one. The story is very engaging and doesnt give you a lot of empty time. There are many different and unique enemies found there and the locations are just beautiful. I, however, cant stand Elysium. Other that that, all the other portals are so well done, it just feels great being there, especially Medea's grove. I love killing things there.

Act II shares some similarities with the fourth one. The storyline kinda keeps you going. You have the option to choose where to go first from Memphis which itself makes the game much more engaging, even if it actually doesnt matter. I like that you can basically see the whole Egypt act on the map, unlike other acts. Could be a bit longer, though. To be fair, I also enjoy acting as a grave robber and getting all that loot from those tombs. And the last thing, the act kinda makes me feel like Im really in a scorching desert doing my thing

Act V has some very picturesque sceneries and is overally very pleasantly looking act. However, i only enjoy it until Valhalla, Valhalla just puts me off and it arguably doesnt get that much better afterwards. With that being said, it feels like they invested too much into looking good and it took away something from playability. There are many areas where being a ranged character, lets say doesnt feel good, since there are small corridors where you cant get your spells off properly and there are too many invisible obstacles (can be read as something that needs fixing) which again, makes life pain. Its storyline feels kinda meh, the first half basically nothing happens - even though the nature exploration is amazing - and only in the second half things start to move, somewhat. But still a pretty good act.

Act I Well, the thing this suffers from is that its basic, but thats understandable, since its the first one. And that I have played that act the most, so it doesnt feel as 'charming' as the others. Yea, it just doesnt feel special. Storyling is pretty good, though.

Atlantis feels like garbage. Im not really a big fan of doing there half acts. This way the storyline has to be shortened and it doesnt feel like there is a whole lot happening. I think this one couldve been far greater if it was on pair with the Hades and you could choose which one you go through to get to Act V. But i understand that it might be more effort heavy and complicated to do it this way from developers perspective. Other than that, it suffers from the same Act IV, there are too many not maneuverable? locations where you kinda have to get right into enemies's faces to fight them, since there is so little space. I do enjoy greatly Necropolis near Gadir, though.

Act III doesnt feel finished properly. Feels like the deadline was coming and there had been two acts planned (Middle east and China) and they had to connect it, someway.
A lot of locations dont seem to get as much attention to detail as the two previous ones. It just seems to me that you visit a lot of places without having been anywhere, if you get what I mean. You just leap through it.
