Entering CD key doesn't work.
So i own a copy of TQ, the very original one, in the form of a DVD with no expansion. I was recently reminded that I can activate products on steam to get a steam version of a game and thus I wanted to do that for my copy of TQ. However it turns out my key is considered invalid.

I am wondering what went wrong? Is it because I have not install the game? Or is it because stam doesn't acept the original version without the Elysium (?) DLC? Will appreciate any help. Thank you.

I think you must own the steam version to get access. If you have It and the Hades expansión, you get the anniversary edition for free

The CD key you have comes from long before TQ was even on Steam most likely. Not sure if anyone would be able to use an original key. Good luck.

Those old CD keys will not work on Steam, I have those too and had to rebuy the games. It was worth it tho.

Having to rebuy something you already have is rarely "worth it". We still have some of the same-old bugs from 2007. AE is little more than the fan patch with a price tag. Not only that, now you get horrible loot because unpickable items are cluttering the loot tables, unless you pay real-life money. That, plus a load of new bugs that probably won't get fixed.

That was a one shot thing when the Anniversary Edition came out. Buying TQ or TQ:IT now (cuz it might be cheaper) won't get you upgraded to the AE version.

Thank you all for your answers. I don't think it's worht it to spend another 20 bucks on somehting I've paid 60 bucks for before TBH. Bought the game when I was a kid when it just came out in the stores, i even remember convincing my mom to allow me to buy a new computer a few months after buying it cos my old pc didn't have a dvd drive. Maybe when the bundle is like 5-10 bucks on sales i might consider it.

Thank you all once again.
