That yellow block powered barrier...I'm actually not sure why that's even there. It needs to be removed in order to progress. Nothing else needs to be done with that block.
First, make sure you've actually done all the minor puzzles. Most of them you should have unlocked just by following the path as things progressed, but there are a few I think off the path. Shift gravity and look alongside the buildings. Remember to open the "blinds" once opening each building puzzle, if nothing else to keep track of what buildings you have already been in. IE, if the blinds are open, you've already been in there.
The thing that stumped me on this level was finding the laser that "purified" the area and allowed me to get the godcube. Its kind of tricky to find. Its on one of the flat faces of the buildings in the center. There is a video guide in the "guides" section here that provides a direct visual on it if that helps.
Activate that laser, and the rest should become clear.
You actually don't need to put the yellow cube anywhere. It's meant to be off the switch for the barrier. If you're looking for the laser, check the red side.
I will admit that puzzle wasn't the best designed... If you don't see the cube on the switch for the barrier first, but pick if off the tree, it can be quite confusing. I see a lot of people on streams struggling with finding the laser beam for that level. The issue didn't become evident to me until after we shipped, and unfortunately I can't improve it without making significant changes to the level design.
Yeah it's the superfluous yellow cube that threw me off. The way that removing it from the thing to deactivate the barrier leaves you opening the area and standing there with the cube in your hands just made it feel a lot like I would need to take the yellow cube with me and use it for another puzzle outside. Finding the laser was easy once I just knew that's what I was supposed to do, rather than go around looking for another puzzle or activation slot requiring the yellow cube. And even more so with the yellow tree being there, as that kind of makes it seem like you really need the yellow cube since the trees tend to be there to resupply you with cubes in case you lose them.
As for improving it, couldn't you just keep the whole level the same but just change the way the barrier works so that it's putting down the yellow cube into the slot that removes the barrier rather than removing it? That or just use one of those fixed "cube-buttons" used for doorways all over the game? Doesn't make the laser easier to find in itself, but at least it clarifies that you aren't supposed to be looking for something to do with the yellow cube, like I was.
By the way, thanks for an awesome game. Love the feeling of falling through infinity. Gives me flashbacks of weird gravity and physics defying dreams I used to have all the time as a kid.
Yeah, it became clear after wandering around a while that the yellow cube had nothing to do with the path forward. But how to proceed forward wasn't clear either. I figured it out on my own shortly after sending my message.
My issue was i had been conditioned by the game to think i needed to leave the red cubes where they were, since i had a fixed quantity of them (i.e. 2 rather than 3). However, lacking any other recourse i took one of the red cubes from when i first entered the area and reused it in the empty receptacle and that was indeed the answer. Maybe that was the point. It just was not very clear between the yellow cube and not having an extra cube that this was the correct path.
I did end up finishing the game shortly after getting unstuck in this area and found it overall enjoyable. For me this was my only area of compliant (and maybe that the purple area seemed very short) and found it mostly enjoyable. There were some true moments of wonder that few games achieve, either of breath taking infinite vistas or mind warping perspective moments (such as the introduction of the non-Euclidean geometry in the blue water puzzle).
Man... Only If I knew that the yellow cube was just useless... The mystery yellow cube, helluva confusion it was. I was searching for the yellow slot for half an hour or so before I decided to look it up at forum.
Couldn't I just operate the laser right after I cleared the 'red tower'? cause there's no obstacles that prevents me from activating the laser, except the red slot power line going off. Problem is, I didn't even spot the laser gun at all, not to mention the final barrier.
Given all the hard works were to remove the last white barrier that gets in the way, I think you should've shown me that the path is blocked before I proceed to another tower.
Can you make the position of the laser more obvious so anyone who cleared the 'red tower' would spot it right away? Goal-oriented players would surely try out the laser path first, so they could find out the way to '4D apple tree' is blocked. And then they can try the only path left, which might clear out the blocking gates and would lead to the tetris puzzle.
