How to enable custom menu music?
I've got some custom menu music that I would like to load into the game in addition to my custom racing music. I've dropped them in the relevant folder, but I can't seem to get it to work. Is there an option that I'm missing out on? The playlist option is greyed out with it permanently set to 'All Music'. The default menu tracks just continue to play. Do they have to be in a different format to the racing music tracks? Because they are currently the same.

The menus use special dynamic music loops that change slightly with each menu, similar to PGR4 on the Xbox 360. I don't believe there are plans to easily make this changeable but you might be able to mod it in somehow.

Mod it in? The most recent update mentioned in the changelog that custom menu music could now be added. There is a custom menu music folder which we now have. I've inserted my music files in there, but they don't play in the menus. I don't see any option to enable or disable the default menu music.

Hello. Custom music for the main menu has a very specific method in order to get it working compared to racing music. Within your Custom Menu Music folder, each new song you want to add must be in a separate folder. You can name these folders whatever you want to organise them. In a song folder you must place a .wav file that is named "Layer1" without quotations. This is because the menu music recognises layered songs for menu navigation and will make use of other .wav files within the folder that are Layer2, Layer3, etc. Once you've done this, the custom menu music will play at random along with the normal music the game comes with. You may not hear it immediately but it should work.

Ah thank you. so will the layers play in a loop like the default music?

They will loop as the file sounds on its own.

OK. Going to test it now!

It works! Thanks so much!

No problem.

Okay, so after a few listens, the music actually begins overlapping and sounding rather unpleasant. Would you mind maybe giving some tips as to how to shape the layers? Currently, Layer1 and Layer2 are beatless intro loops, with the beat added in Layer3. This transition is smooth, but when I get to Layer4 (the ship select screen), it begins overlapping, and getting progressively worse when I back out to the previous screen and then re-enter the ship select screen. Layer4 is nearly identical to Layer3, but with additional instruments.

Sorry. I can't go as far there because I've not had any music that layers. Only single-layered tracks.

You've only done single layers? So in that case, you can just stick a Layer1.wav file in there and it will play throughout the menus? If so, then this may be my only option because my audio editing skills aren't very adept. :/

Worked a charm, thanks!
