Still too fast for my poor fingers
EDIT: It's still 280 on my Steam version.
And it's not a good idea setting the ships' speed without factoring normal gameplay.
Ship's performance during gameplay is what makes which ships competent to each other, ensuring every ship can have a chance to win. From the get go I already felt Nexus is way faster than Icaras, isn't a good sign for me.
Following afterwards, Xpand made the drop in by saying that the first three classes are actually based on the Venom, Rapier, and Phantom Classes. So Spectre and Zen are essentially "Super Phantom" and "Zen" Classes immigrating from the newer WipEout games.
Although, if you're actually talking about Nexus being a bit too fast on Toxic, I would have agreed to tone down its speed to the levels seen with Icaras on Venom Class in Wip3out. But I don't know what the devs would say about reducing Nexus' speed though.
And another thing, I just tested Icaras to Nexus this morning, and I noticed another thing: Nexus has slightly worse handling / grip compared to Icaras in Wip3out. Nexus currently is my least favorite team mainly for that reason. Until Nexus' handling can be improved, Diavolt will remain as my Heavy Weight Main.
That actually reminds me of a certain post...
It's likely you're running into the same mistake I did when I did a comparsion of 2097 AG-Systems being faster than 2097 Auricom at Toxic Class. I got this above quote when I made the claim.
Had a read of your post, and safe to say I feel you too bruh.
BnG is frighteningly newb-unfriendly, meant for returning vets like us. Toxic is really fast considering it being the slowest, so much I had a friend dissing me for making him trying the game only hearing "git gud" voiced from the heavens. 😂
Hell, I'm stuck at Halbred and I'm never touching anything beyond, the game sharpened my skills so much Icaras on Rapier didn't made me break a sweat!
I do love this game, but for it to be made by veterans for veterans and ended up being unwelcoming to newer players kinda breaks my heart. We might never see any new blood in the great world of Wipeout getting a kick along with us.
Newb-Unfriendly... Yeah, it's difficult straight from the beginning. But once you learn the game mechanics / techniques and master them, you're good to try Zen on "Baby got an Atom Bomb" difficulty. (Also known as Mario Kart 64 mode)
I played WipeoutHD for 1 year before I could get more than 3th place in AI races
Eventually i tried Zen, and after a adaptation time, the fun started to kick in.
Now everything below Zen looks boringly slow to me. :)
Next step: Hyperspeed not on XL prototype
