Motion Blur
Hola! Great game so far.

There's only one suggestion: Add the incidental motion blur from the speed pads and the Turbo power ups, along with some weapon effects, and allow it to be toggled.

Otherwise, I'm very happy with this game and the way it's shaping up.

Kudos!

(edit) I don't have that sharty mobile GPU anymore, which tanked horribly with Reshade (modern titles), so no need to comment about that anymore. Cheers!

Although I would realy like motion blur (I think it would appear interesting in conjunction with all the other effects available to us), the developers have stated they wanted this game as retro as can be.

I mean, tone mapping made it to the current 1.0 beta branch, I don't see how the inclusion of motion blur could be harmful. It would just be an added affect to bring it up to say... PSP graphical fidelity, if wanted.

Again, it's just a suggestion.

It would be nice to have motion blur as a toggleable option.

And yet VR support has just been added in beta branch :steamfacepalm: - um yeah, not exactly "retro", devs...

Motion blur should be added as a toggleable option, if players want a ps1 retro look, allow them the options to do so. Same goes for players wanting the opposite experience. Customization and modding is king, it ensures a game's longevity

Yeah because there was never any VR games that had PS1 like retro graphics, as such a thing never existed in any format.

Actually Sutre, while you were too busy behaving like an supercillious twerp, the thrust of the discussion was that the game has advanced past it's original retro PS1 vision and newer optional elements to it were coming into play to make it more contemporary such as; bloom, tone mapping, 'lens effects' and VR. So why not motion blur aswell?

Your retort was not only arrogant and simplistic, it entirely missed the point. The discussion had nothing to do with there being an existence of VR games with "PS1-like graphics". Maybe if you paid attention to what others are talking about and exercised some self-awareness you'd spend less time keeping your fingers off the keyboard to make knee-jerk comments and more time educating yourself over how people can have a civilized discussion on a forum.

Yes, I agree, why do we have those completely optional options in a game that dares to say it's got PS1-like graphics, let alone motion bluWAIT WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ DO YOU MEAN "ROLLCAGE STAGE 2 ON PS1 HAD MOTION BLUR AS WELL"?!
Syndroid Apr 11, 2018 @ 7:09am
now that BnG has VR support, I stopped careing about motion blur.
but yeah, motion blur was one of the things that made rollcage 2 a very atmospheric game, imo..So for 2D it'd be a nice to have I think.

I personally would enjoy if there were even more options to modernize the graphics, like shaders/normal mapping. etc.. especially since there is a 2280 mode and many other features from the newer Wipeout games that aren't exactly retro as well.
After all the game would still look and play like a PS1 game if you want it to be..Options aren't hurting anyone since they're >optional<.
However, I can't blame the devs for not impementing any of those features. It's their vision, and limited time/ressources is another factor.

use ReShade and you can get motion blur in best quality and more...

Yeah, make the game as retro as possible when it has freaking bloom effects and road reflections lmao

Reshade is very taxing on older hardware like mine, and there's ways to implement it without murdering framerate.

Many seem to forget that a LOT of PS1 games implmented motion blur and framebuffer effects to amazing effect.

it really isn't, the latest version runs on a much modified codebase with a lot of optimizations. the built in FakeMotionBlur.fx shader should have zero performance impact.

Good job on necro-ing this thread. At the timeframe, I had an ATI HD 5850 mobile gpu, which would have completly sharted itself with Reshade. Now with a GTX 1050TI, I wouldn't have an issue with it.
