The masks are little refernces to the characters in other devolver digital games. Chicken is Hotline Miami. The bullet is Enter the Gungeon. Both very good games and worth a bit of your time if you have some to give.

I honestly forgot that DD published Hotline Miami. Great game. I've yet to play Enter the Gungeon yet, I'll check it out.

I really like the new masks. I was pretty disappointed by the sheer number of masks that are basically a glorified prospect mask (lost prospect, talem, silan, terracotta, ice mask, risryn, kuretz).

Those are really over the top and recognizable, if every new mask is as unique as those 6, I am sold.

Then, they are "easter eggs" masks, so maybe I'm raising my hopes a little.
