Another common comparison is the Souls series by From Software. There are elements of that series in how the combat systems work, and to a lesser degree in the feel of the world and the multiplayer experience (although the multiplayer can also be called "Journey-like").
I've mentioned Remember Me as another game this reminds me of - and God Hand is also on the list of games which have similar-on-the-surface combo customisation. Again, there's room for comparison and a sense of familiarity, but it's not the same.
I don't think you can say this game is entirely unique. A lot of the elements on display have been seen before, or at least something similar has been done before, but it blends a lot of cool ideas in ways that give it a distinctive feel. It's got some very interesting ideas, and I'm very curious to see how it brings them to life.
My concern with games like these are, because of their nature, people eventually leave. As is the case for most multiplayer games. Unless the devs find a way to keep and maintain an audience, I don't see this game becoming a CS:GO or Overwatch anytime soon.
Here's hoping there'll be a story mode.

They've already beaten For Honor, in several areas, so I can't see this ever being the mess that the Ubified game similar to it was.
