Is this like For Honor?
Title speaks for itself.

It would be a shame if the game dies after a few months or so.

The game is nothing like for honor. People see the stance change quadrent icon and suddenly compare the two, but there is almost nothing between the two games that are similiar, gameplay or style wise.

It's like for honor, except it has other attributes and maneuvers.
In meaning gaining items and doing the tricks to play through.

There's some comparisons to a lot of games. For Honor is a game which you can raise some comparisons with. It's not looking to me like it's the same as any of the games I could compare it to, though.

Another common comparison is the Souls series by From Software. There are elements of that series in how the combat systems work, and to a lesser degree in the feel of the world and the multiplayer experience (although the multiplayer can also be called "Journey-like").

I've mentioned Remember Me as another game this reminds me of - and God Hand is also on the list of games which have similar-on-the-surface combo customisation. Again, there's room for comparison and a sense of familiarity, but it's not the same.

I don't think you can say this game is entirely unique. A lot of the elements on display have been seen before, or at least something similar has been done before, but it blends a lot of cool ideas in ways that give it a distinctive feel. It's got some very interesting ideas, and I'm very curious to see how it brings them to life.

@Trin: they are similar in concept. Online multiplayer close-combat battle arena.

My concern with games like these are, because of their nature, people eventually leave. As is the case for most multiplayer games. Unless the devs find a way to keep and maintain an audience, I don't see this game becoming a CS:GO or Overwatch anytime soon.

Here's hoping there'll be a story mode.

There is a story mode that makes up the bulk of the game. A 12 zone web like PVE open world to explore. A main quest to become an absolver. You can either play alone, coop, or with random people being spawned into your world to either help you, hinder you, or just ignore you as they continue on their own quest.

@Trin: Thanks for clarifying. That certainly resolves most of my concerns with the game.

The graphic will kill it in few weeks.

Animation is more important, and Absolver has that on point.

Yeah, Ubisoft killed For Honor through their own stupidity, hopefully this will have better staying power.

They've already beaten For Honor, in several areas, so I can't see this ever being the mess that the Ubified game similar to it was.

ofc will be dead. People don't like skill games and most fighting games on PC are dead, people play more on consoles.
It's more of... Dark Souls but with more PvP.
For honor was a great game at first, but the thing that killed that game for me is how the meta and community evolved, suddenly playing for fun was prohibited by law and everyone was serious about the matches to 110%. If you did anything that deviated from the meta or norm you would get harassed so badly. Same thing if you followed the meta and did the things that were "best/easiest" you would also be harassed, just a disgusting community.

I hope this game turns out different :LIS_butterfly:
