10/10 authentic Silent Hill game

TL;DR It's not a bad game, but not good enough to recommend it.
I have only played the Silent Hill 2 Remake, comparing to Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f’s approach to storytelling deeply flawed. Despite the game’s high-quality art direction and visual presentation, it leaves the player with a huge pile of unanswered questions, frustration, and irritation.

The game forces every player into the same ending on their first playthrough, yet that ending presents only a fragmented and incomplete story. By the time it ended, I was like "The ♥♥♥♥? that’s it?" It is nothing like the impact of Silent Hill 2, where the revelation finally answers everything and makes the entire journey fall into place.

The full truth can only be understood by completing multiple playthroughs. But after such a broken and confusing first ending, how many people will keep playing just to figure out what happened?

The atmosphere was also disappointing. Newcomers may still find it frightening, but as someone familiar with horror games, I found much of it corny and overly theatrical. The excessive dramatic cutscenes weaken the tension, and the game lacks the quiet psychological pressure that made Silent Hill 2 so effective.


The combat system makes the game feel like a souls-like game, with too many "modern" action-game mechanics. The constant mandatory combat encounters in the later sections become mentally exhausting, leaving me wanting only to rush to the ending rather than properly experience the game.

By the end, I felt empty that it was over rather than emotionally affected by what I had experienced.

Not what I was expecting from a Silent Hill game, especially having played the originals etc.

One could say that the storyline deviates from the Silent Hill universe drastically. Which it does. However, the story in this game is definitely unique and catches you off guard. Defiantly worth playing, even if just for the sake of horror, as it does lack connection to Silent Hill.

What I will say however, is when I saw the first 'enemy' in the game, I was like. "HAHA! Wtf am I suppsoed to be scared of this ♥♥♥♥" and I thought to myself I would not be scared at all throughout the whole game. Till just a few minutes later when one of those mf'ers started jumping on roofs to chase me down. Then I took back my comment and cried patiently in the corner, waiting for it to leave me tf alone.
