Honestly Its not that good, the combat is repetitive and boring. The optimization is really terrible and needed to be modded just for the cutscenes to run over 30 fps. The ending is actually pretty decent and also most made me want to get the others but I just cant bring myself to do it.

very good game, while not entirely silent hill-ish, specifically in it's lack of large areas with several puzzles scattered around, rather focusing on collect-a-thons and smaller areas with 1-2 puzzles, it's still good and the ms section did appeal alot. Story and symbolism (incl. monsters, little details) were all amazing

This is not Silent Hill. It is Silent Hill in name only. It doesn't feel like a Silent Hill game and it doesn't play like a Silent Hill game. Combat is slow and too frequent. I can see why people make a soulslike comparison. Silent Hill f isn't scary at all, in my opinion. Way too action-oriented. The addition of weapon durability and stamina when fighting was a really bad choice.

Enemy design is decent, but nothing to write home about. Not varied enough.

The same thing applies to the environments. While well defined, there's not enough variation. The game is good looking, but there is too much of the same everywhere. Too many tight spaces and labyrinthine layouts. Navigation is confusing and the map is hard to read. The new take on Nowhere is very frustrating to go through. Not thrilling, exciting or scary. Just tedious.

There's hardly any music and while the sound design is well done with a well defined surround soundscape, it feels empty. This is something of a trend in more recent horror games, though. I personally prefer music in all games. It adds to the ambience in all genres.

The story and characters are two of the truly low points. None of the characters feels interesting and the story is mediocre, if not downright bad. Plot development is more annoying than interesting. I know that the story is supposed to make more sense and get more fleshed out once you continue after finishing the game, but I probably won't be doing that as I don't find the story appealing enough to want to invest any more of my time into playing the game.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm ~8 hours in, or so, and I'm more or less forcing myself to continue just to reach the first ending.

I wouldn't recommend this game. Even though I bought it at ~50% off, I actually regret my purchase.

SHf surprisingly runs well at maximum settings at 3840x2160@60 Hz. I didn't expect that, but appreciate it. I had performace issues with SH2R, but virtually none with SHf.
[Edit, 2026-04-28: I had to turn down DLSS to "balanced" and shadows to "high" in order to not have the game lag in the "final town" end stretch. The game ran well at max. settings everywhere else.]
