Cheating with Bucket Shield (Paintball)

So I was playing paintball TDM to get my challenges completed for the day, and everything was great except that I found a new type of cheater. I got a "there's no rules against it" response when I asked him about it after the match, but come on, you're cheating and everyone knows it. I looked for a post on this topic and was surprised when I didn't find one.

So what he was doing was laying on the floor--which already makes you a very annoying target to hit--and putting himself inside of his bucket shield, completely hiding his hitbox except for tiny bits of his body that stuck out if he wasn't perfectly aligned. You had to shoot at him and hope that you nicked a part of him that was sticking out from the shield.

The obvious fix would be to make it so that you can't see out from the shield when your head is inside of it. You could still poke your head out, fire a fire shots, then hide (a problem that persists with a lot of cover in the game), but you wouldn't become a tiny tank that can't be stopped. In any case, something needs to be done, since this cheat is super easy to do and makes you 10x harder to hit, perhaps impossible if a player does it perfectly.

Also, can laying on the floor in general be nerfed somehow? Lean the torso forward (to simulate laying down) so that it doesn't just completely phase through the ground, perhaps?

That legitimately isn't cheating. That's called using a shield properly. However, I do agree it would be good to not have the body phase through the floor.

It's an issue on gamedetails, not necessarily human cheating.
Also, this is TDM. Capture the flag with him in the corner would be a lot worse.

I didn't realise you can shoot if your body overlaps with any object (including the barrel). The half sunk in the floor is annoying :( but i did get him a few times. He did have disadvantages, he couldn't see over any fence or railing, or pick up extra guns from top of objects (River map). Unlike some other games, this one has a strong sense of community and more importantly Vote Kick :)

"Using a shield properly"? Um, no, it's really not. He was completely phased into it, with zero of his hitbox visible at times, and he was able to see outwards with no obstructions whatsoever. Like my teammates were saying, he basically had godmode on as long as he held it up correctly. I'm pretty sure that the intended use of the shield was to hold it in front of you (like a shield), and not to put your entire hitbox inside of it while being able to see through it yourself.

CTF would have been a bit worse, yeah, but this tiny guy that is often difficult to spot and usually impossible to hit zipping around the map is pretty dang bad. If being a tiny, nearly invincible target that can shoot normally isn't cheating, then I'm not sure what is.

Yeah, normally being phased into stuff keeps you from shooting (as it should), but the barrel is an exception. I actually had a much better score than the guy (he wasn't very good when he didn't have the barrel, and he was probably spending a lot of time getting shot while looking for it), and could usually get close and sneak a shot on one of the stupidly tiny bits of hitbox sticking out, but that still usually resulted in a trade-kill. Teammates who hadn't sunk as many hours into Rec Room were honestly demolished by the cheesy tactic, though.

Easy fix: make the barrel polygons double sided. If I see some a-hole doing that I'm leaving the game (and voting him out)

The barrels in the paintball were meant as shields, however their size and how they are used along with floor height is an issue.
We have a fix for this coming with the upcoming update.

Not meant to be used as shields? I didn't expect to hear that, since it has become common knowledge that the barrels can be used as shields, lol.

Actual (tiny) shields would be cool, though!
