Rec Room

Is paintball fun for everyone in Rec Room anymore?
It is not. In 3 different games tonight I heard new players/owners of VR saying that "...it's my first time playing paintball...and I don't like it....I think I'm going to find another game on here to play..."

That sucks.

Don't get me wrong...I'm proud of my hard earned win/hit ratio, but what I love more is the excitement of new players to experience the coolness of Rec Room paintball...as I fell in love with it. And, unfortunately, no matter how many times you back off, shoot your own teamates, or yell at them for spawn killing/running around the other teams base...it just happens..

Could we implement some "handicap" systems to give the new players some breathing room...?

For example:

- 3 on 2 in CTF = 3 flags vs 2 flags until somebody new joins etc..

- Nobody on the winnnig team is allowed to cross midfield when winning by 10+ points etc..

- ???

Idk...just venting for those who might not care to...

Yeah I agree matt, The most annoying thing is teleporting in a gun game because you always find your self stuck in position or someone teleports right behind you and shoots you in the head. They should add the free movement aspect on the joystick, It would be a much better flow of gameplay. Maybe a skill system should be added to balance the games if thats already not added. But yeh i agree its very much a peek-a-boo gameplay going on most of the time. Whats your opinion on the free movement mechanic with the joystick? do you think its possible?

it couldn't just be giving players the option to free move or teleport. that would put motion sick people at a disadvantage. it's fine and balanced as it is. also displaying fake positions is very confusing for this kind of game, and wouldn't work.

choose a better spot to teleport to. play with your room scale.

agree with placing new players in handicap. place them with other new players, not against a team with 4 players with 20 hours in paintball. although i haven't seen noobs in my games so I think this is already done. but from your feedback perhaps a better ranking/ladder system is required

paintball is something you have to get good at.
It's because there's no ranking, so they'll be always be some guy just dominating all the casual players.

I agree, I find myself not playing or leaving games because other players are noobs and they are not having fun losing. We have a level / hours. How about keeping anyone above a certain level/hours from joining a game with players below that level/hour and vice versa. I think this would make it more fun for all. The first person in, or host, sets the level/ hours threshold.
