How to add my child as a friend?

Hi, I have an adult Rec Room account and have set up a child account for my child. We have two VR systems here so we have tried to meet up in the game.
I'm not able to add my child as a friend and they are not able to add me. Consequently we weren't able to "go to" each other and meet up. I'm guessing this is because they have a child account but I expected that they would be able to friend with their parent at least. Am I missing something?

You have to send them a friend request using the @name, not the screen name that's being displayed. I hope that makes sense.

Even with them being a jr. account, you should still be able to friend them I believe.

Hi - if I search for them using their @verbnoun74 name I can find them in Rec Room, but all the friend buttons are greyed out like so:

I can't work out how to meet up or become friends.

The friend button says "Pending" which means a friend request was already sent. Check the jr. account and see if they have a pending friend request and accept it

When the jr. account accepts it, you should be able to start joining each other

Thank you! I had seen that I had a message but hadn't realised that Notifications were under a different title, I thought that the "notifications" in blue (https://imgur.com/a/XautGuL) was a title, not a button.
