Rec Room

Maker Pen needs some serious work
There's are some things that really annoy me while making custom rooms, most of them are about the Maker Pen tool and how Custom Rooms are being made.
  • When you activate a grid, make an object and make a new one some other time, the grids from both the old and new objects are misaligned, so I can't for example make an additional room without rebuilding the entire thing in one sitting (and that can be tiresome). This issue mainly affects me while working on 10cm and 100cm sizes, because working on 1cm is extremely imprecise.
  • You can't move the Sandbox Machine somewhere else.
  • You can't make "don't teleport here / Out of Bounds" zones, which could be great for making space maps or floating islands.
  • Talking about being precise, there's no "lock in a certain axis" while moving objects.
  • There's a general lack of tools for modifying shapes, like extrude faces.
  • Complete objects can only have Environmental or Physical, which means either "can't move or interact with the object, because it's a wall" or "I can interact with it, but I can also put that flower pot on my face". There's no "can move it around, but can't stick this in my face" object type.
  • Sometimes I can only rotate the object with the Move tool, but not move it or vice-versa. There's no clear feedback on where I have to grab the object in order to make it rotate or move. It seems to be random and it's only more difficult when the object is giant and cannot be shrunk down due to details. "I just want to move that little part... Ow great! Now it's and in a weird place. It's time to make that futuristic table all over again!"
  • There should a way to edit existing objects when editing a custom room, because you can only edit the entire group you made, but not their individual parts, which means removing your hard work and doing it all over again with that small modification.
  • Cubes should have more options on if you want them rounded, sharp or somewhere in between. When I stretch it out to make a wall, the round parts are stretched out aswell and look ugly.
  • When making a cube using a grid, sometimes you can just drag the cube and it creates a point where you clicked, but sometimes it's offset in a random axis, depending on which direction you stretch the new shape. Because of this anomaly I've spent 20 minutes forming just one wall so that I'll be aligned with other walls and without Z-fighting.

I understand that making custom rooms isn't what the game is all about, but if I want to make a minigame when 15% of the time I spend making environments and 85% I spend fighting these inconveniences, it really pulls me out of the experience.

One great feature that could be one of my favourites is completely ruined by lack of polish, which is utterly depressing.

This looks like a very well written post on the subject. The devs take feedback seriously and I am sure they'll see it. While I am not a good builder myself whatsoever, I do echo some of your exact feelings with my own experiences trying to build stuff with the Maker Pen at times.
