Serious question: How are they *not* cheating in paintball?
There are a couple of guys that are *so* good in paintball (first shot they hit, but 10-20 fired at them almost always miss, even if it looks like it's dead on/go through). One is a profane name with a letter swtiched.

I find it hard to believe they are cheating (I can't envision a way to do that). But then HOW or WHAT helps them so much?

Might they be using a mouse where everyone else is trying to hold a vive/oculus controller? Or might they have a massive graphics card able to avoid lag?

Serious question - what (might) give them (or anyone) the advantage?

100's of hours of game play. While the rest of us go to work, and do things with our families. Ping lag is not connected to gfx card.

I like how you imply that really good players must be people with no lives who have no firends or family. Is that a couping mechanism of some sort? Some people are always going to be better than others. Some learn quicker, have better reflexes and are a better shot than others regardless of the time played. A bad player could play for even more hours than a good one and still be worse.

As for the OP's question the only cheat I've legit seen in painball is warping underground using some advanced VR settings. A large skill gap can always make it look like someone is cheating.

(btw: wasn't talking ping lag - a terrible graphics card can slow the actual gameplay for someone (or chunk it)).

On 'better shot' - it's one-shot-wins. But, at least with my controllers/setup, two shots with the EXACT same aim jitter off in multiple directions. Wondering if that's normal. (I get the some are better, but this is a few levels above everyone making a game completely un-fun. One person getting 40 out of 50 kills isn't enjoyable no matter which team you are on).

Nope, read it again. Never used word "lives" AND I didn't imply they don't HAVE families. Maybe they don't need to take their kids to 3 different after school things. But I agree about the natural abilities, some people are just better.
Add to that 100 additional hours of game play and you get Bolt racing a bunch of high school athletes. Similar stuff went on in Hover Junkers for a while, (with some genuine cheating) and most people just gave up playing. I don't know if that can happen here.

dont mean this as a brag but ive hit shots so ridiculous that i would have thought i was cheating too. guys like smelly kid, tau, jong yi, etc are just insaley good.

I thnk some people are super good, think ahead, plan smart moves, crawl, duck, dive, etc. I think that is what makes Paintball so fun in real and virtual life. :P

Good connection gives you a GIGANTIC advantage. You can easily see if that is or is not the case just by checking out any of their videos they upload to YouTube and comparing them to your experience: in my case for instance, whenever I hit someone it takes ~1.3 seconds to score the hit, and when I'm shot at, if I don't move away before the paintball is HALF way, I will be hit regardless I teleport away and whatnot. If that's your case just take it as a funny handicap/challenge, you basically have to pre-plan beforehand all you do.

On top of the connection factor, add up they simply play a lot.

And if that's not enough, throw in the 'try-hard' factor (dropping to the ground, tilting your head, going shielded at midget-size...). Is it really that hard to understand?

Wow... and the whole time I've been blaming myself for the times I suck at paintball. Good to know I should be blaming several other factors (not) :p

Good connection, huh? I always wondered what would spur me to pay $$$ for a top-of-the-line connection. Never thought VR-paintball tho. :)

Yeah, lag is a big thing.
I notice it most in paintball and dodgeball.
There are times when I've moved and seen a shot hit the place I moved from and it still gets me out.
It's par for the course with online shooters really. As an Australian, I'm used to playing these sort of games with around 300ms ping. Obviously people with less ping are going to have an easier time of it.
It wouldn't surprise me if the ones with the best connections also turn out to be the ones with the best skills since they have a slightly easier time of it and thus feel like devoting more time to the game.

Watch some YouTube videos of recroom paintball game, you'll find out why some people are so good. They are just that good.

Lol the tears. Let me just say I started out with a horrible connection and it only made me plan ahead and get better than players with a good connection. I was one of the best two players within the first 100 hours of game play. Your mind has the ability to counter everything that comes at you. Don't crumple, stay strong and don't give up.

When I had bad lag the shield was the only thing that helped me not get out after a hit.

My thoughts in reading this...
1. SmellyKid? Oh I hate you so much (in a game sense).
2. "First 100 hours"?!?!?! Oh my god.
3. "Stay strong and don't give up" ... ok, this guy's awesome (maybe more than a gaming sense).

Thanks for inspiring thru 1000 deaths. :)
