Why so many dresses? (clothing recycling option)
Could we get some sort of option to allow us to recycle unwanted clothing/accessory pieces? I've gotten something like 2 dozen dresses, none of which I have any interest in. It'd be nice to be able to send in clothing pieces in order to earn credits which can then be used to have more control over the next clothing/accessory piece you get. For instance the credits could be use to activate an option to filter by slot, color, them, shade, and if you put the credits in to activate all 4 filters, then you can also put more credits in to allow you to choose the exact item you want.

This would allow players to benefit from rewards that are otherwise complete junk to them, and also help reduce clutter in their inventory, and also allow RecRoom better feedback for what type of design sense they could better cater towards.

Well, you can keep your dresses, but I'd like to have some option to not have them clutter up my clothes, since I'll never be wearing them.

When I first read it the idea sounded interesting, but the more I thought about it I can't think of any actually good way to put this type of system into the game. Atleast not in a balanced way.

How is this idea not already balanced? You send items back, and the more items you send in, the more you can narrow the scope of the random item selection. Send in enough and eventually you can just outright choose the specific item you want.
It's already a purely aesthetic feature, so what is there to balance?

I mean't I don't know how it would be balanced to keep the random drops actually useful. If you just throw every item you get into the item recycler until you get what you want then the random drops just become useless.

I think the best way to put an item recycler in is to add a shop and currency system like suggested in this post http://steamcommunity.com/app/471710/discussions/0/135512133546030824/

Right now, random drops are already useless. Just look at what has happened to the people who play the Quest game. If they've already gotten the armor or equipment they want, then they'll go along with whatever, but if they still have a specific piece they want, they'll use every exploit available, and any attempt by Against Gravity to patch these gets treated as a loss from the game rather than a gain.
Now that I think about it, you are right. My initial idea is a little overpowered. If any item can be used to give you a filter on your next drop, you'll always get rid of an item unless it's specifically what you want.
Instead, it might be simpler just to do a triple cost redo. If you have three pieces you don't like, then getting rid of them will automatically give you a new random drop right there. It's still random, so you might just end up with a new unwanted item, and there will be a limit to how often you can keep rerolling, but it at least offers the opportunity to shoot for something you want.

I saw that post. My main concern with that is that the game will become too market/grind oriented. Strategy guides stop getting made for how to play the game well, and get made about how to get the fastest drops and play the stock market.

I don't believe the game will become too market/grind oriented because isn't that what you do already playing the game? You play games over and over again. I don't know if you have ever played Minecraft, but there is a server called Hypixel where for doing quests and playing games you get coins, but most players don't just grind all day to get coins, they play the games on the server because it is fun. The coins are sort of just a bonus to reward players that have been playing longer and more often. This would be even more true in Rec Room because in Hypixel you could actually buy upgrades and things, but in Rec Room it is purely aesthetic.

Another thing you could say is if more people start grinding for coins it will be less social. I disagree because if the devs add some sort of grouping system, like school teams or something like that, where people can team up together and compete with other teams it will become even more social. Even if teams aren't added, the game will still be a social game. People will still make friends and spend time in the lobby messing around. In a normal game a lobby is usually a boring area with a couple things just as a buffer before you choose your gamemode or to meet some people to group up with. In VR the lobby is an amazing area to have fun messing around with friends, playing small games that don't warrent a full game lobby, and just relaxing a little bit to take a break from the intense full gamemodes.

P.S. I love how we are discussing all this on a thread about an item recycler. ;)

Good Idea.
