I say some things about Cinder Man being manipulated, but then I also say "Plus, I get Nectar".
At no point was it implied by anything or mentioned by the Cinder Man that I'd get Nectar, but 'lo and behold, I've suddenly got two extra bottles of Nectar in my inventory, conjured from seemingly nowhere.
It wasn't given by Cinder Man.
I didn't pick it up from his experiments.
Cinder Man never said he'd give me Nectar, either.
They're just suddenly there, without any explanation, and my character treats this as normal somehow, for some reason.
Also, for some reason, I now have two Cinder Man entries:

The game should not have been released in this state.
You need to follow the tech rot trails, they should be like purple glitter in the air, and then you need to stand by the furthest one and scan, and it should update and reveal the next "step". The first "step" leads out into the garden.
Note that as opposed to ALL other quests I've done with tracking, it won't leave you with any "?" to inspect, you just have to see where the trail is going and stand basically on top of the haze and scan. It's weird.
Sadly, I couldn't find the option in the dialogue tree to let the Cinder Man live, and made the mistake of assuming the game was railroading me into killing him rather than looking harder. It's a real shame given that killing the Cinder Man can potentially keep you from getting the best ending.
