Junk items to keep

What junk items should you keep for quests etc.

so far we got:

Quests:
1 Magnet
3 Metal Rivets
2 Metal Chain Piece

Crafting:
Metal Plates and Wires
Monster Polymer Bone
Duct Tape !!!
Monster Crest
Monster Pellicle
Electrojunk !
Spidersilk
Tennis Ball !!
Kolohawk Vocal Chords
Metal Chain Piece !
Polymer Form
Leather Strips

I'm roughly 15 hours into the game (still haven't visited much) and started to actually make a list which Junk items are needed to craft various items (upgrades,nades,utility items etc.).
It looks like this so far:

Metal Plates and Wires
Monster Polymer Bone
Duct Tape !!!
Monster Crest
Monster Pellicle
Electrojunk !
Spidersilk
Tennis Ball !!
Kolohawk Vocal Chords
Metal Chain Piece !

Items marked are needed in several recipes so far. Did not include plants for healing/energy potions.
You don't really have to hoard them, but you will start to watch out for specific stuff once you see what you can create from these and when you get access to your stash you can sort all your items and never get short on anything.

Then of course you'll need a lot of stuff to disassemble in order to upgrade the crafting stations.

well yes. but thats what this thread is about. for people to call out items that you need for other things. so that we do not disassemble them.

It's kind of a drag that some junk items are needed on top of generic leather/cloth/polymer/etc
Item needed for crafting should be labeled separately like CRAFTING and other items that don't belong in recipes should be labeled JUNK

Agreed, this game suffers from the same issue as for example fallout 4. TOO much junk in just about every container.

Oh btw, another thing to add to the list.. polymer form (which is needed for the polymer driller). 4 of them to be more precise.

I wish I had known this.. probably dismantled a bunch.

No, but the polymer drill is very important to get into places. It's the highest tier drill.

Just a note, several items can be gotten by farming scrap crabs :)

FIX: Lootdefs of merchants and vending machine tweaked - removed unique champions weapons, added listed junk items to the vending machine.

Check junk vending machine after patch 1.0.3 - you should be able to buy more stuff for crafting.

Metal Chain Piece can be found in Technomage's containers - a lot of them you can find in Warehouse near Lewmer Town.

I can confirm that you can buy items needed for crafting (from 10 to 20 pieces):

I'm looking for those now for armor mods.. Is there a good place to look for those? I am 10 hours into the game and haven't for a single one. I wanted to go full stealth and upgrade my armor to be quieter since the first area. Now I have the tier 3 noise mod and not a single leather strip.
