Where do you get skill chips?
This isn't actually explained anywhere. There's no tutorial, and the infodump "tutorial" stuff in the menues doesn't explain it either. Where do you actually get Skill Chips?

I've been playing for a long time now, and at first I assumed that the stuff you got from the red containers or boxes were some kind of passives or something, or that you could craft skill chips and special abilities later - but after finally getting access to the crafting stations, it turns out that nope, nothing.

Really, are you supposed to be multiple tens of hours into the game before something that's constantly alluded to by the game mechanics is explained or revealed? It seems like a pretty basic mechanic.

Also, the game keeps telling me that my inventory is updated, but nothing actually changes. For example: https://i.imgur.com/dCxNz3f.jpg

Once I press that, there'll be a popup saying "Inverse Chronosphere" in the lower right, and a large "Inventory Updated", but nope, nothing anywhere.

Also, I've yet to find where I'm supposed to get the pre-order bonus stuff.

I'm on GOG, by the way, but the GOG forum is dead, so I'm posting this here.

Edit: And I know that the red containers have something to do with skills, because when I'm close to them, I get updates telling me about "something something skill something nearby". That's what's leaving me confused, because so far, despite that, these things seem to have nothing to do with skills or skill chips.

Why on Earth was this moved to spoilers? It's a game mechanic that is mentioned again and again, not quest-related.

I got the first couple of skills after one of the main missions. Not found any yet after that as I'm exploring. I find tons and tons of skill upgrades though..

I hope that not all skills are hidden behind main missions because that would be incredibly stupid.

Well I found Energy passive skill outside of the main quest.
But I agree that locking skill progression behind the main quest is incredibly stupid
Also not giving us some sort of progression reward for defeating enemies is kinda stupid.
I whooped a lot of technomagi ass and got nothing but a sword and rifle out of it. I also got a set of armor but that's kinda useless for general purposes

Anyone have abilities locations??
Blackwolfe Dec 5, 2017 @ 9:11am
This is the only one I found in the wild so far. Mod Blast (similar effect as the mod dart, not tried it yet so I'm not sure if it is centered around yourself or not)

Please update image, it doesnt work
Blackwolfe Dec 5, 2017 @ 10:31am
Doh, had accidently added an 8 at the end. Should work now :P

Note that you need a better drill to get into the building. Not sure if the metal drill upgrade is enough because I skipped directly to the polymer drill upgrade. I have polymer lockpicks as well but those didn't seem to work.

Big thank you for that. If you find more abilities please post here, even names are enough but images will be great too. Im have big trouble finding sth, i find only "Acrobatics" and "Chronosphere".

Hard to miss those two considering they are unlocked in a main mission :P

So , anyone have clue where to find more skills?

You get the fighter passive by doing 1-2 fights in the birdcage after which you get sent to the wardens hold arena. When you have beaten all the champions in wardens hold, you get it (plus an awesome sword, and the fighter skill chip)

The energy passive is found in the mire after you beat a daemon.

The things you get in the Warden's Hold arena is trash, aside from the axe, which is easily replaceable by upgrading an Exquisite Techno-Axe.

Just go to the northern hunter camp and pickpocket yourself some Exquisite Techno-weapons. You don't need visas to get there; there's no patrols and you don't have to pass through any checkpoints.

I find the axe too slow, I prefer some more speed which is why I am using the sword. Previously I used a spear (which I bought before an update that removed the unique weapons from vendors) but that you can get during the main questline by killing a guy in the biomancer temple.

Now that I think of it, not even upgraded the sword yet. It will be a beast.

Found most of the techno weapons to be a bit.. meh.

Axes were great to keep for making backstabs, but depending on how the normalization of backstab damage that supposedly was in 1.05 was done, there may no longer be a need to haul axes around at all.

Honestly, the best weapon by far that I've had the pleasure of using is the normal swords.

And you can grab Exquisite Techno-Swords that can be fully upgraded at the aforementioned hunter camp.

The spear I had could instakill most things with a backstab (I had the +15% opportunity damage mod) , plus it was great in regular combat with a secondary attack that didn't require energy that also did a knockback, plus it was electric.

Being able to do opportunity damage mid-combat on enemies that are knocked down feels a bit op though, makes a lot of fights too easy. Especially since you are invulnerable while the animation is going on.
