Sure, I am slowly scaling up from piece to piece as I find "Common Armor" that has 3% defense vs 2% defense. But there also seems to be no rhyme or reason between the 50 billion variants of common armor that have stats (and penalties to movement) and the common armors that have 2% defense and no penalties. Oh, and the common armors that have better stats than the common armors that have other stats. And the common armors that have 1% stats. Etc etc...
I haven't even touched armor mods yet. Once I saw there were 3 tiers for stats, now I won't use any until I find that third tier.
So there were never a reason to use a different armor, but it's kind of sad how useful it is and makes any armor obsolet except you choose to wear inferiour armor, imho.
I would have preferred Terial have a main set which you upgrade however you want rather than replacing bits, then everything else is disguises. It doesn't make sense to be running about in heavy armor when you're a thief.
I don't think this is a huge problem, i'm pretty sure you could run through the whole game with the worst armor/cloths, maybe even naked?
If I really needed stealth I would just abuse Invisibility.
I enjoyed it so much more that way.
a set of elegant attire is what i used through the game with speed and noise upgrades towards the end. i found armour to be obsolete as it encumbers Teriel. without armour Teriel is fast enought to sneak up on anyone and backstab if necessary or in case being spotted it can disappear in almost any situation witthout a trace. i don't see much meaning in fights in this game as there is no xp reward. still, in a fight Teriel is fast enought to dodge any attack, and chronosphere makes things easier in case he is outnumbered.
speaking of a role-playing side of things Teriel is a master thief, so it comes natural his strong sides are stealth AND speed. in this game speed is an integral part of stealth, because it allows you to move and response much faster to any change. it just plays so much more genuine this way. kudos to developers for this, because farming imho spoils rpg. i think it's best if xp only comes from quests.
