Multiplayer between steam and crack version

As the title said, I have a steam version and want to play multi with my friend but he don't have enough money to buy it. So is it possible to play multi through hamachi ? if it isn't , will it work after i copy the crack to my M2TW ?

around 4 bucks on those game key selling websites (cant name em as steam censors it) and you can have all the fun in the world. gamespy is dead so you cant get online on cracked anymore. its all steam servers now.

unless... you go lan hosting but that restricts you to playing with a fellow friend now doesn't it. and its usually a really bad connection that you WILL suffer from during online play.
