Fable Fortune

Fable Fortune

why have steam players abandoned fable fortune?
I would like to know the main reasons why fable fortune steam players left the game. At its very peak it had over 270 concurrent steam players according to steam charts. What was your reason for leaving. Will you come back and give the game a second chance if the issues you faced get addressed? I love fable fortune and would like to see more players playing the game again.

I like Fable Fortune (Fable universe, in fact), but this game has been abandoned. Would play if they still work in the game.

I haven't and I'm still new.

This game was extremely bland and did almost nothing to differentiate itself from the over-saturated market of hearthstone-clones. And don't even start with the quests or lightside/darkside bs, those features alone weren't enough.

Compare it to Duel links, Ascension or Slay the Spire. In fact any number of interesting card games. What it has going for it is a great game world, cosmetically attractive, nice badges and trading cards but what it has against it is, like Aloneaflame says, it is dull. A grave disappointment considering how rich the Fable world was in the main games. Games so good you would sit there and chop wood or serve pints just to keep being part of it. Games where you got so endeared to a virtual dog that players were up in arms when something may or may not have happened to the dog. Games with property empires, epic quests and a real sense of investment.

And for a card game, we got this.

This game could benefit greatly from a slay the spire mode, it has good cards, classes, but TCG game model aims always for the PVP factor thinking it will boost card pack sales to stay competitive. People can compete each other in ladder mode without ever seeing eachother.

At least the wanna be the next hearthstone fad died, giving birth to card games like slay the spire, more PVE focused single player experiences with ladder modes for people to test their skills against each other, i know RNG will play a factor on roguelikes but its fun anyway.

unfortunately, it seems the devs abandoned it which is a shame as I loved fable and have since I was a kid an as suggested above there are so many game modes they could add to make the game alive again and add substance but yeah nooo. admittedly they didn't have much money to do this and with what I'm thinking of less than expected sales and player retention they had no real choice to abandon it. also, I must say the cards seemed to have little substance compared to other card games. it seems they relied on the love of fable ( which has unfortunately diminished) to sell the game instead of attracting new card game enthusiasts to the game by creating cool cards kinda like shadow verse. also the heroes you could play as were as bland as they could be, why not play as a hero or villain like jack or hammer with you unlocking them by getting a card variant from a pack. , people love fable for the charm and witty humour, the world, the music, and the characters and this lacked those sparks which other card games have had. I hope this gets picked up by another dev team.

The devs abandoned the game before players.

I am an xbox one player and if the game was truly abandoned why don't they just shut down game and thank the fans for their past support. That's what they did to Fable Legends. I think Microsoft has long range plans but I don't know what they can be.

I think by keeping games active they keep a hearth lit. Just a theory. I am no expert, have no special insight. I see no major commercial reason to keep a game that failed alive.

Ahh I thought it was privacy settings or something. Not laughing at you, at Steam for the fact we were talking and you apparently had not been here for years. I knew I should have been back on the meds...

A user on reddit asked Flaming Fowl about updating the game and was told Mediatonic is now solely responsible for maintaining the game .

A couple of years ago there were no updates to Fable Fortune in its heyday and players were told by Flaming fowl that they can't do anything at moment. Turns out that Microsoft made them delay any updates until they could present the game at video game exhibition.
