My comeback experience
Hey there, I'm a long time fan of WC3 legion TD and bought this game on day 1 EA. The game was fun but far incomplete so it got stale fast.

I just reinstalled the game and decided to give it a try, so first of all congratulations an all the improvements. The game is definitely better now than it was back then, and that's a lot to say with the amount of trash EA games that never get to playable state.

I only played a little bit of training to get the hang of a few changes, and then played classic mode. In this regard I have to say the training tool is awesome, but needs a few more things like being able to pause the timer or be able to get sends without sending myself, which increases my income.

About games, it seems like most people have been playing the game for a while, never found anyone around my skill level. Most people knew the optimal strats which I already forgot, oh well, maybe the game requires more players.

One recurrent thematic was being called a noob by almost everyone. I honestly don't care because I'm dropping the game for another few months, but I guess you might want to have that tuned in at some point to avoid having new players be blasted away by superior players in unfair matchmaking.

Another thing that seemed pretty stupid was having to take cross sends. It was very often that the guy I sent to kept leaking, but it didn't matter because someone in our team kept sending wave after wave to boost his income, giving the player sending me a huge gold lead, so much that it was impossible at some point to keep up with workers and income. This happened pretty much every game, be it me taking the extra sends, or an ally, or an enemy. Basically the game becomes one-sided too fast and that's very boring. Back in beta it was more streamlined but most games made it at least to wave 18 and you never knew who was going to win.

For me, the reason to leave again was being forced to team imbalance, both the games I won and the ones I lost were all pretty boring because they were one-sided from wave 5.

On the bright side, the divine faction is shaping up to look pretty cool, and the game overall has a very nice quality. Also the damage/armor table and waves stay from game to game (it was a pain to click every time), and there are no more limits to sending one specific unit, I think that's an upgrade.

That would be all, hoping this game gets better and better! Cheers.

i haven't bought legion td2 yet

i am still deciding/wondering... whether i will get it or not

from what i recall in WC3, there were emerging strategies like splitting roles of builder/incomer

builder would feed from killed monsters
and incomer would focus on maxing income, to have strong end game, while building backup units to help mid/end game, where builder might have too low income at those stages

idk if this fits this Legion TD2 game and might apply to what you see, or whether it is a viable strategy here

for BM, well, this is entirely up to dev to help avoid and to address that kind of negative interactions and negative experience, it's just not like it were a new kind of arising issue...

Thanks for trying the game again and sharing your experience. To respond to your points:
- We get new players every day (around 1000 new players in the last week), which is awesome, but not enough to exclusively match new players with each other. It's something we're aiming to do in the future with a larger player base.
- Classic mode doesn't have skill-based matchmaking to keep queues fast. I'd recommend muting/reporting players that are toxic (click tab and press the chat bubble or red flag next to their name) or playing Ranked. Ranked has skill-based matchmaking, which will be a better experience for you. We plan to add skill-based matchmaking to Classic in the future.
- Classic mode is more casual/for fun, so players like to send for income every wave. This is the unspoken meta of Classic. In Ranked, especially as you climb the ladder, players are less inclined to "feed" their opponents.

Hope to see you around again!

Also, welcome to the game, Omicron! Good to see in the community Discord.

No problem, I really like this game, and used to play Legion TD day and night before Blizzard went full hara kiri on their 20 year old game. I think this is a great standalone game, and it will probably get much better if it ever goes F2P, like you could market the different legions like Smite you might attract a lot of players (be ready to invest in more infra though).

After all the major issue is that most players right now are veterans and it's hard to get in as a new player, and I really don't feel like going through that with the variety of games I own.

@Omicron I'm familiar with old strats, I used to be the one doing pyro full eco, or elite archer spam when not playing eco, but this game doesn't allow that. When you leak you give the enemy money, the upkeep doesn't work the same way so you get rekt if you leak intentionally. Basically the game expects you to defend all waves, if you read the opponent's intentions properly you can feed off their sent waves, and if you make them leak you get extra money, then there's a snowball effect that ends the game sooner. I've never seen the level of games from the Warcraft 3 era where it was pretty common to face several demon waves to end a match, even in 10x.

IMO the game is not bad, but still has a lot of rough edges. Try it, it's cheap anyway.
