Legion TD 2 needs to be F2P
I said it and I'll say it again.

Smurfs can't be tracked they'll make another account - require additional authentication? I.e. phone number or something?

Hackers can just play again on another account - so you're saying it's OK for hackers to pay to hack? Bruh.

F2P is the way.

If you want to support the growth and competitiveness of the game i.e. some guy who cannot afford to play or wouldn't touch the game because it costs $ initially, giving a new pool of players who bring up the 'quality of the average player/matches' the game needs to be F2P, not to mention steam charts visibility.

Then just make more skins = ez money, the game is good, it just needs shorter que times/more pool of people

Going full free-2-play is something the devs have been discussing internally for a while now as the suggestion does pop up to move in that direction quite frequently.

The reasons they've ultimately decided against that in the past, were lack of playerbase, lack of robust MTX offerings, and high production/upkeep costs. That being said, the PR events such as the upcoming F2P weekend are projected to grow the community substantially, and we have a fair amount of cosmetics in the shop now. So hopefully those pain points will ease and they could potentially revisit the conversation in the future (especially if F2P weekend proves to be popular).

One thing I'll reiterate and expound upon, the dev team (which consists of 3 people) pushes out a truly amazing amount of content for free. At least once a month we get balance changes. Every other month or so we get new units or skins or other mechanics thrown in (even something as "insignificant" as a new Legion Spell can cause a deceptively large shakeup in the meta). We have at least two casted monthly competitions with prize pools. Twitch drops and sponsored streamer positions are available. And we even occasionally hold player contests such as the "Design-a-skin" competition last October. (the Spiny Bone Crusher skin was created by one of the winners)

All of this on top of everything you'd expect "base line" from a paid game, such as a viable product with (usually) functioning servers and fast turnaround on bug fixes. The production value is what caught my eye when I first crossed paths with this game - it's astounding. And in the past, it just didn't make fiscal sense to go F2P when all of this was on the table. They would have had to cut back on their polish and/or quality, which is something they refused to compromise on.

Doesn't mean it has a 0% chance of ever happening though. We'll see how July 20th shakes out.

I hope July 20th brings in a lot of people, hopefully an event or something is lined up also (I haven’t checked) to get existing players online to boost it even more.
f2p = game is dead because of smurfs... nooooo

I loath F2P games, but I don't think this game has a smurf problem.

It is definitely a niche game, so it will never have like 10k concurrent players. If they were able to pull off a nice graphical overhaul...then maybe?

The only other game close to this that I know of is Mechabellium, but that game completely lacks the income/economy aspect which is sad because it could be awesome.

People say niche but I believe there just aren't many games you can sit back and play that are good. This game is pretty chill, doesn't require me to sit up straight in my gamer chair to hit some crazy shots, it's relaxing. I don't know of many games like that. When trying to juggle life/gaming sometimes I don't want to have to go 'try hard' in a game so this one fills that void.

I agree. F2P and on gamepass.
I have 300 hours played, i want a bigger community.

they can make money from skins, cards, maps etc

As stated at start of topic though:
Hackers can just play again on another account - so you're saying it's OK for hackers to pay to hack? Bruh.

What stops a cheater from buying the game again? If people wanna cheat they are gonna cheat.
Like you said hackers will find their way and every new purchase of the game will benefit the few good people who made this great game but is a niche game like this really that big that the hacker comparison counts.... I dont think so.
Take LoL as a new example... since the beginning it is always free to play... i have longer queues there than in ltd2 (even though the playerbase is HUGE) only to be cut up by smurf accounts.... There are so many bad examples where F2P has led to the downfall of the game and I'm very glad it's not like that here.

But I still find it very nice that there are people with whom you can discuss even if it's just about such trifles like one of our favorite games :cuteblob:

I'm not even sure the 'hacks' in this game. You can very easily tell when someone is 'sending' on you, maybe the hackers could see that, but anyways you are notified.

What cheats even exist in this game? If I go on YouTube and search 'legion td 2 hacks' I see nothing?
