Speed Brawl is a 2D side-scrolling brawler action game mixed with fast-paced platforming. The game features a striking anime-inspired art style, a diverse roster of characters, and a variety of upgrades and special moves.

One of the game’s unique mechanics is the ability to swap between two characters at any time, allowing the player to create dynamic combos and adapt to different situations. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, and finding the best pairings is part of the fun.

However, the game also demands a high level of precision and timing from the player, which can make the combat frustrating and repetitive at times. While I am not great at it, Speed Brawl could appeal to certain folks.

When I first booted up this game, I cringed so hard that I almost shut if off right then and there, never to touch it again. However, I shouldered on, determined to give it a proper chance--and I'm glad I did, because the gameplay turned out to make up for everything that I initially found disconcerting. I STILL can't really take the story or characters as seriously as I think the game wants me to, but that's okay, because it feels great to play. I'm not exactly sure what genre you'd call this, but what it at least reminds me of is Smash Bros. Just... a much faster paced Smash Bros where all your abilities combo into each other way more easily (and you also have way less abilities). At first I thought it was going to be a bunch of button mashing for some easy dopamine, but while that's somewhat true it isn't entirely; there are just enough different things you can do that it feels properly dynamic... basic attack, dash attack, pole dash attack, wall dash attack, special attack, ultimate attack. Add onto the the ability to tag back and forth between two characters, and you've got yourself a decent wealth of options to work with, all of which flow together surprisingly smoothly. It's quite fun! So, while the story may just be tacky window dressing, at least the gameplay is solid enough to carry the experience. Sadly the whole thing is a bit short, but... well, if you really get into it, there is some decent replay value. Going for faster times, co-op, some sort of multiplayer mode I couldn't be bothered to try (I doubt I would've been able to find anyone else playing anyway--I don't think this game exactly has a thriving community)... yeah. There's stuff to do.

Would recommend if the gameplay looks fun to you. That's the one element it can deliver on.

A worthy addition to the brawler genre while adding it's own fast paced flavor.

If this is the kind of in-depth game mechanics that Double Stallion is capable of then then my enthusiasm for CONV/RGENCE is now through the roof. Ekko's first solo game is in great hands!

fun & satisfying combat, early game is a bit mediocre but it'll get better later, the soundtrack is a plus.

Better than I expected so anyone on the fence I recommend you try it out =)

I definitely don't have 142 hours into it. Which, it's showing that I do. That being said, It's worth the buy. It has replayability to it, has great art and sound, and is fast paced.
