same here, got as a giveaway on Epic game store

failed to initialize player
Failed to initialize graphics.
Make sure you have DirectX 11 installed, have up to date
drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled
3D acceleration in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed

I have Directx 11, just updated drivers.

Would you check that you have the VCredist installed (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0). You need the x64 version.

Running the game through Epic and I'm getting same error as the above people, Running the latest installer for VCredist didn't have any impact. I'm running on Window 7, and have multiple other Directx 11 games that are working fine. Here's the error:

Would you try running the game / the epic store as administrator and see if that fixes the problem? We haven't encountered this on any of our machines.

Same thing. Launching Epic Store and Administrator, or browsing to the game files and trying to directly launch the .exe as an Administrator created the same error.

I've see a couple of people post on the Double Stallion's discord having the same error, so i know it's not exclusive to me. Also this is far from my only game, but it's the only one having problems. But here's the DirectX dump.

I'm researching this issue and have yet to find any solution other than "Update your drivers". Do you encounter similar problems with any other Unity games (like Hollow Knight and many others)?

I was thinking of re-trying the game to see if it's been fixed, so I revisited this thread.

The dev doesn't seem to have a handle on it, though.

Like MechaMen and others, I have no trouble launching and playing other recent games, no problem with DirectX 11, no problem with Unity games (I have in fact played some of those games on MechaMen's list).

It's not us -- it's you, dev.
