From just reading it looks like they run out of ideas and take some leftover assets to fund development for other games now.

Dont get me wrong, Northgard is a solid game. The past Clans all had something unique to them.
Their next game did not so well and now they make Dune.
This Eagle clan looks like described. Barely anything really new.
Nothing fresh or original, nothing unique only a relatively blant asset as well for a pretty generic mechanic of scouting, which is possibly by far the least interesting mechanic in the game.
Ofcourse with a chance of varying opinion on that one.

When i saw a new clan, i was pretty tempted to see what it is.
I dont like all new clans and dont own all of them, but i found any they released to kind of play and look really different.
Even if i skipped one, i had to admit it looked like something that would change the experience if you played them.
Like the dragon clan.
Absolutely not my thing, but the mechanics and changes certainly are unique and interesting.

Im not saying they are all fun and great or even balanced.
But they brought something to the table.

Eagle however looks like a Default Clan with a minor tweak on the typical skills.
The changes are so barebones and basic, that it could very well be a variation to another Clan.

Im no fan of it and as mentioned, i think at this point they have simply few people left over trying to rake in some funding but they ran out of backlog ideas for new clans already.
It could ofcourse be a misstep and the next one is back on track.
If the next one is as blant and boring, we have a trend.

I see, it's a complete argument
So, what are the clans that bring something and the one who dont for you ?
Just to have comparaison points if you agree

Up to now?
Pretty much any clan brought something fresh or a twist.
I would say the last few were a bit more conservative, but the Eagle clan is possibly the peak of conservative faction design.
And honestly, the Raven Clan already had a few scouting related abilities.
Some bonus stuff for clearing camps is Wolf Clan.
Applying an area effect is snake clan.

The Eagle just appears like so much less compared to lets say the Bear Clan or Dragon, Snake or Raven.
A reskin and mixture of what we already have.

Any of them has its clan structure built around a new mechanic, often accomplished by a few new variations of existing skills or mechanics.
But Eagle kind of appears like "take mechanic scouting, now they get X bonus to scouting anc clearing camps".
Not the freshest approach or ideas.

Maybe im alone with that opinion.
But upon reading the clan description and the "mechanics" i have to expect buying them, i was already bored.
Does it work?
Probably.
Is it fun? Maybe, but is it because of the clan or the game?
Does it provide some synergies?
Possibly.
Is it bringing an interesting twist to the table? Hell no.

Even with clans i really wasnt interested in, like the Rat Clan, i at least could easily see and understand how it would be a good addition to the existing roster.
Eagle clan feels like they dusted off an idea from their lower cupboard.
Then called it a day.
If i was one of those mean forum guys, i would say a "lazy way" to design a faction.
But i know thats not true.
Yet, it just looks like they spent far more time and spirit for all the previous ones and now its just the leftovers.

You know.
Like Having the Avengers and adding Spider-Man and all that and suddenly they get around the corner with something like Hank Pym.
The fact you need to google him, would tell you all you needed to know.
Yet another super-scientist gone wrong stereotype.
Thats Eagle Clan in my book.

Question is whether they now add more of the D-roster to the game like the equivalent of "The Sentry" or continue to come up with something more interesting.
Their last one was Rat Clan.
That one came with no housing and a special healer unit plus some other stuff not seen in the other clans.
Pretty downhill if you ask me.

Ofcourse its clear that this is my opinion and view.

I've only played in a few conquest maps and I think it's decent.

I do like getting boost to resources just for killing stuff. Like getting a jump start on ore collection. I like being able to use the scouts for a production boost once they are done their job.

The free heal after clearing a zone is great. The caches are a bit of a mixed bag for me. On one hand they are a nice resource boost. On the other they are random so sometimes you'll get a nice pile of resources. Other times you'll be sitting around waiting to clear zones to get stuff.

I actually like the whole scout system and think it's pretty interesting.

I made the relic once but didn't clear it to get it because the map ended before then.

But yeah, the rest of the clan is still the base clan stuff. So nothing interesting outside of that.

Wish the conquest didn't start with my least favorite map though.

Oh and I only play conquests single player so I have 0 idea how it would work in pvp.

Relic is maybe not the best thing they do, like kraken. This relic is not really interesting but not bad too. I dont know what thinking about it. I think i need more play to evaluate it. But when you watch relic from other clans, eagle relic is not good thinking. But it can be useful.
So i like really this clan for now. Warchief is not amazing but with relic he can be better.
Need more play, but it's interesting for the moment.
And Snake clan became really too cheated. I hope they ll change this because now they strong like ox. That's nonsense

Yeah for sure it will be easier to speak about it after more play time
But it's some good opinions ^^

Not the freshest approach or ideas. A bit like they neded to come up with something new for 5€ (which is ridiculous) and all they did was taking what was already there and smash it together.

I mean you can do that. But dont expect me to call that original or diligent.

Maybe im alone with that opinion.

I see, like a "déjà-vu" feellings maybe ? It's new but theres too much leftover from others clans for you
Like if there's a lack of "yeah, it's that wlan who do that !" and more of "mm it's this clan who do what the others allready do but a bit better"
Idk if i catch you
Intersting to read
Buntkreuz Sep 15, 2022 @ 4:10pm
Yeah pretty much.
The clan might work fine and all but its certainly pretty conservatively designed.
And you kinda nail it with your comment on how i feel about it.

Admittedly, it might also be because scouting is a relatively dull mechanic to me.
On the other hand i am a teamplayer and dont play Northgard solo, so this clan should be right up my alley, at least on paper.
But realistically i would rather take some limitations and rather play Squirrel, Raven, Bear, Rat, Snake, Deer or Goat to support my teammate with their respective skills.
Eagle is just so "meh" in terms of inspiration and uniqueness.
To me a total misstep.
But thats taste right at work here and the next person might celebrate this one like crazy just because "birds".

Sorry the clan wasn't really to your liking, but i will have to clarify some points here.

Firstly, the clan most certainly is not a simple asset swap, we've put a very extensive amount of time and dev resources into this clan since it began development earlier in the year.

As for funding other games, this is not the case at all. Both Wartales and Dune: Spice Wars have been extremely successful (the two most successful releases and first years we've had for any of our games as a studio) and continue to perform extremely well.

The DLC almost entirely funds the ongoing development of Northgard, and allows us to continue updating the game with major free updates and supporting the game long beyond the initially expected support period and will continue to do so going forward.

If you have any feedback on what you think would improve the clan, we'd love to see if we can address that, as we will be focusing heavily on improving and balancing the clan over the coming weeks.

I'm after first play with this clan, and it looks pretty interesting. Yes, this clan is not so original like Rat or Dragon, but still gameplay is different, when you must to focus more on map and scouts to find your opportunites on wild terrain. My suggest: discover bonus should be changed from lore to fame - lore will be fit for future Owl clan :)

"Clan of the eagle"
but they only have hawks
