Boar is hilariously OP right now
Does Shiro take multiplayer balance seriously? The boar clan is like playing a different game. Taking tiles without clearing them, beating everyone to jotnar ally, including kraken, having the same economy with wood buildings as other clans have with stone buildiings, dumping your stone into your military to beat everyone in military, including military clans like raven. It's just absurd.

"Boar is hilariously OP right now", Where? not in this game for sure. Should improve the relic instead, which is totally useless in team games.

Well that's the problem, I guess, is that game modes are difficult to balance with each other. I admit I don't play team games much anymore because I don't find them enjoyable. Back when I used to play team games boar was still quite good. These days I play 1v1 and FFA and boar is, undeniably, the strongest clan in those modes, by far. It's not even close.

While we're at it - Dragon Clan changes please:
#1: Dragonkin: Remove Whirlwind, add Charge or increase their movement speed. Whirlwind is all about numbers: either OP or useless, no healthy middle ground. Charge would be useful to be better against ranged attackers but more movespeed would also be helpful, especially on large territory or against invasions.
#2: Slaves are downright useless for a long time, as their upgrades are scattered all over the lore tree and initially it's not even possible to assign them to any structure. It should be possible to assign at least 1 slave per structure initially without any lore unlock because otherwise there are slaves that do no work, which is laughable.
#3: To keep the total number of slaves per structure the same in the end the lore "Blood, Sweat & Tears" should only allow +1 instead of +2 more slaves per structure that can have any. Slaves also produce too little to really be a benefit for all the costs and hassle players get with them so it'd be nice if this very lore would also allow them to benefit from tool upgrades at the structure they're working.
#4: It should be a Dragon Clan passive to have a chance to capture slaves right from the start, as they're pretty useless until most of the tree affecting them has been unlocked. This would also help better fighting the constant need for sacrifices that make the clan so hard to manage.
#5: The "Capture" lore that did the slave capturing per chance before should instead become a lore that reduces the train-, construction-, upkeep- and upgrade cost of the Dragonkins and their military structure by 20%.
#6: The rotating bonus bar that's filled with Dragon Essence to receive a certain bonus shouldn't work the way it does: It doesn't scale with the economy or happiness at all, any gain or drain might ruin a bonus I want and replace it with something I don't want or need and to keep a certain bonus effect for the longest time possible it's designed that I run out of Dragon Essence at the end, which is pretty bad. The design of this should be totally different: all bonus effects should scale, except for health regeneration for obvious balance reasons, it should be the goal to keep the bar nicely filled and instead of suffering from random buffs of which none may be needed the player should be able to activate a buff duration and a strength of choice, also allowing multiple (with a limit of each no more than once), the stronger the selected buff is chosen to be and the longer it's chosen to last the more Dragon Essence it's activation drains. That'd be a useful Dragon Essence system, that, if it scales, would be useful in late game too and worth the hassle that the clan gets with it.
#7: The "Draconic Frenzy" lore unlock should also have a passive, because the active effect is downright useless in actual warband vs warband fights. Maybe increase the Dragonkin's damage by +1% per player-owned Dragonkin in the same territory ?

Shiro just announced yet another clan. It seems that their priority is simply creating more DLC for their fanbase that plays the game offline only, which is easily 99% of the entire player base. It seems that multiplayer balance is a low to non-existent priority for Shiro.

Bro, idk what rank are u but boar is not strong, it decent but not strong. Kraken (with 500 fame ability)/ Ox (late game)/ Lynx (late game with Oskoreia)/ Stag (mid and late game) are stronger than Boar in FFA games. Is decent in teamgames but isn't even a top tier (goat or wolf are top tier in teamgames), so what we talking about? xD.

Cannot agree with u, they tried to balance the game many times (changing the trading meta with the last patch for example) but is very hard to balance it cuz there are so many clans/abilities/builds/etc.

idk I'm a gold rank player, like top 200 in the world, and I'd say boar is the best right now. In FFA Ox is very, very good, maybe close to a match for boar, and kraken is also quite good. Lynx is very gimmicky and I don't think stag is good.

lol trade meta? You mean the meta from like 2 years ago? How was the previous patch a trade meta?
And yeah, that's my point. A game like Dota gets a significant balance patch 4 times per year, and each of those patches gets mini updates every few days after it is released to tweak it. And then every few years there is a major mechanics overhaul.
Northgard is adding new content at the same rate as a game like Dota, but it is balancing the game at less than 1/4 of the frequency.

in all honesty, if you're playing boar you're doing it to support your team or push a backup lore vicotry. why would anyone pick up the boar relic instead of the lore relic? bigthink

Remember, game development can be very sloppy.
They just added another clump of clay... "Clan of the Squirrel" LOL! :steamfacepalm:
I guess they need to decide when to stop adding clay and start shaping it into a balanced game.

Well, that's the frustrating thing. The RTS genre is dead these days and NG was a breathe of fresh air. This game had a lot of potential because it was doing things in a new and fun way. The devs could have taken that and run with it and realized they had a great game that could become very popular if they spent a lot of time balancing it for online play. But this isn't what they wanted at all. They are completely focused on single player and MP is an afterthought for them, which is why they keep adding content and making the game balance even worse after every patch.
It's also why NG will always be a niche indie game that no one has heard of. None of my friends play it and they refuse to play it and every time I mention it anywhere, other than its own sub forum, no one has heard of it.
So the devs are perfectly fine being indie and small and staying small. They're making decent money off of selling it to people who want to play it single player and they have no apparent interest in focusing on the MP experience.

But I can't really blame them too much. In all honesty, people like me, who like to play online, are the minority. The overwhelming majority of gamers want a chill single player experience, and because they are the vast majority, that's also where the vast majority of revenue comes from. From a business point of view, what Shiro is doing is understandable. It's just disappointing for people like me who want to see NG's MP community thrive.
CNC May 21, 2021 @ 9:31am
yeah this game just disappoints me these days. I should just uninstall and spend my time doing something more enjoyable. The average northgard game for me these days is 2 hours and at the end I regret spending the time on it.
