Does this game still lack tactical pause?
Considering that Shiro did include tactical in their Dune game (great game by the way), did they add it here too?

Never really got into Northgard due to the lack of tactical pause, though since I'm enjoying Dune Spice Wars so much I figured I'd give Northgard another try - if it has pause.

Dune: Spice Wars is a RTS, by the same developers of Northgard, it has tactical pause.
Sins of a Solar Empire is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
Age of Empires 2 is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
Age of Mythology is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
Company of Heroes 3 is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
The Settlers is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
Cossacks 3 is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
Ashes of the Singularity is a RTS, it has tactical pause.
Rise of Nations is a RTS, it has tactical pause.

Etc, etc.

Anyway, was just asking - seems the answer is still no.

This is a perfectly reasonable request. Ignore that first reply, what an a**hole.

Your guess is right, though, still no tactical pause, not even a sort of functional pause. You still can't give orders of any kind nor pan around etc. etc. while paused.

That said, the current sale is good for Northgard, less than 3 $/€ , and a better pause is the sort of feature that should eventually make its way into the game, someday.

It does have multiplayer pause though, which is a favourable addition to any co-op.

Yeah, I'll give it a try anyway.

What I wanted the most wasn't even to give orders and such necessarily, but to at least be able to pause and calmly read tooltips, compare costs for buildings, etc. It's how I like to learn these games, a pity it isn't possible here.

The basic game concepts are pretty straightforward. What's tricky are the situations you can run into due to randomness. For beginners the 1st winter will be a challenge and a blizzard / rat event after that. Only for multiplayer min-maxing is relevant. In singleplayer or coop the AI cheats all of its economy except for resources from deposits, which it actually needs to mine. It can always spawn and revive its warchief or clan-specific hero units for free though and likewise anything it can spawn from a relic. An issue new players frequently run into is that you can't scout enemy territory until your scout camp has been upgraded and for that your clan hall needs to be upgraded first. Happiness is a special resource of the game that is reduced by your people starving (lack of food) / freezing (lack of firewood) / lacking (upgraded) housing or just increasing in number (population size). Each clan has a specific happiness structure that boosts this value but requires units assigned to it.

Honestly playing a singleplayer game in endless mode (no win condition, no active enemies) teaches how to play the game better than any of its maps do and without much pressure, except maybe when you get kobolds around your area.

Oh that sounds like a good idea for me, thanks!

But no multiplayer save... which is still ridiculous.

Newer player here, but frankly the lack of a tactical pause combined with the forced camera position changes and lack of ANY pause during the innumerable and unskippable mid-scenario dialogs and "cut-scenes" is absolutely infuriating.

I think, the only thing you can do during the ingames pause is choosing your fate-perks. Its just a "stop game"-button otherwise.

Personally, I can deal with it, yet I can see, why people would like a better pause function overall. Its good to know, its a coop-thing though. :)

You may select any unit or group and command it as soon as you unpause the game. Useful for retreating situations.
