New player here seeking knowledge on the playable clans!
Hello there! :D
Id love to hear strenghts, weaknesses, gameplay, strats, "recommended for what type of players" of the clans to help me decide on which clans i wanna focus on playing and learning.

also on the side i wouldnt mind tier lists and peoples opinions on their own tier lists, as well as which clans they find well rounded or better at certain things, and which ones apply best for what victory conditions and so forth.
oh yeah, more importantly players own experience of the clans and why they find them so much fun to play, amazing to play or suits their playstyle the best. ^.^

However try to keep things civilized as i dont seek for it to become a open argument or squabble like "this clan is better than this clan!", "your tier list is ♥♥♥♥ and a lie!", "have you even played this clan yourself?!", "what a noob!". much appreciated if such can be avoided at all costs, thanks. c:

DLC clans included!

Welcome to the Northgard family :)

* Wolf = An agro clan. Great for early clearing (this is a key role of theirs in multiplayer).
* Stag = The easy-mode clan... as they get free Resources :P But they are quite good in the hands of skilled player who can utilize their fast tempo and villager recovery rate (due to high happyness)
* Goat = Great food and gold (from Trading food). The strongest clan IMO, great for new players and OP for pros.
* Raven = Scout and harassment Clan. A bit weak IMO, but not bad if you can get your gold up for constant raiding.
* Bear Clan = Another easy-mode clan... as they get easy clearing, better in winter, with good econ and combat options (their Relic is a must get).
* Boar = The Lore clan that is very dependent on map tiles. A little weak IMO, but a solid choice if you can plan well (also, 1/2 wood cost and no houses is great!).
* Snake = The harassment clan. Tricky to learn, but can be deadly against an unprepared opponent if you have good micro (bypassing neutral zones, ranged warchief).
* Horse = A solid and flexible Clan that focuses on mining with 2 warchiefs. Quite fun IMO, as you have to balance how you use your warchiefs (fight, mine or upgrade).
* Dragon = Slaves and super troopers. Can be hard to learn, but has very strong military.
* Kraken = Spell caster clan. Like to hug the coast and summon ghosts.
* OX = The late-game super trooper/warchief clan. Very popular in FFA games, and should be rushed by everyone ASAP.
* Lynx = The Troll clan, for both the user and the opponents... having played this Clan a LOT I can confirm that this is a trash clan that has no place in the game (bad eco, military, too many abilities, lack of synergy, etc...).

For new players = go Goat, Horse, Bear or (maybe) Stag. Stay away from Raven, Snake, Dragon, Ox and (definitely!!!!) Lynx for now.

Lynx can work but this "kill spirit animals" design doesn't really work in the game because that's their only way of gaining points for them while the majority of combat isn't animal kill focussed and animal tiles also get cleaned as the game progresses. Now they got their lure to make sure that they can level up their military lore by having animals spawn there but that demands them having an available zone to do that in and doing so generates no benefit other than gaining some military lore points. Only once their trackers unlock the spirit animal kill bonus that can improve their attack speed by up to 50% it becomes somewhat useful. But overall leveling them is hell, as it just takes too long and actually distracts from the enemy. It doesn't really help that placing the lure costs food and that the waves of spawning animals only become meaningful bit by bit, spawn after spawn, making it critical to keep the lures "alive", instead of tying the wave strength to game progression and making the lure free.

Lynx can start fast, as the initial military lore unlocks are cheap, same with the 3 heroes of the clan, and because their military lore focusses on improving these heroes even further BUT loses a lot of traction fast, as animal tiles are farmed clean, military lore costs more and more to level up, forcing them to wait for spawns on their lure. The bad thing about their military lore is also that it only focusses on the 3 heroes and trackers while offering nothing for any other military unit. It feels like they play-tested the clan, were happy with how it started out, then it became too strong too fast, so they added tedious leveling that doesn't really fit in the game.

Maybe the clan would be better if they could just "track" (means spawn) animals anywhere, with a cooldown per zone for doing so, without requiring a lot and having that lure only as lategame element to summon superior spirit animals to use in combat. The clan overall isn't worse than Raven, imo, and more versatile. Maybe Lynx could also use military lore unlocks that scale and grant some bonus depending on what else is currently unlocked, allowing them to start out weaker, adapt more (makes them more unique and interesting) while also allowing them to become stronger later on. Overall their leveling needs to be hammered and the values need to be rescaled. It's just too much.

The clan's towers also shouldn't pull their arrow selection choices from the trackers' arrow choice but have that as a tower-specific choice only. It makes no sense to have regular- or fire arrows when you can have any of the special arrows active on the towers.

I'd also like to get that Lynx stealth as a toggle option. Without it the tanky Lynx, whenever stealthed, allows the enemy AI's melee units to run past him and straight towards anything that shouldn't tank. This makes the tank Lynx fail at it's job.

This sounds like something you should throw into clan discussion. c:
