What are relics good for?
I've played through the game 3 times now and I can't see any good use for relics. I've had ones such as Mjollnir, and it's never used. When I tried to place it, I couldn't find anywhere to put it. In my own zones, or in neighboring enemy zones. What is the point to these?

To add to the above, I click the icon after placing the relic Mjollnir, and it just says "You can only cast Lightning Storm on an enemy border zone", however when I try to place it on a bordering territory that I don't occupy, I can't place the storm.

1. You need a free space to place it like any building.
2. Relics range from game changers to huge eco boost for just 10 metal. After you upgraded your warriors or and few workers you have no use for metal anyway.

You had to put the relic first in your territory (with 1 free space), then from the relic you can summon the thunderstorm.

Other relics improve knowledge or gold gathering or defence. Then every clan have its own relic that usually boost a trait of that clan. Try some more game and you will understand ;)

The lore relic is really useful sometimes as it lets you colonize tiles with lore instead of food, plus it boosts your lore income

Mjolnir can be pretty devastating to an enemy clan if they aren't ready for it, but it is pretty expensive to use and has a long cooldown

The feasting relic halves the feast cost and doubles the duration, pretty useful if you haven't feasted yet and you have a lot of food, you can spam feasts over and over for awhile

The commerce relic boosts your coin income- useful if you are going for trade victory as it buffs all your coin income

Some of the clan specific relics are pretty powerful as well

Like your altar of kings, you want to place it in a spot where it won't easily be taken i.e. not really a good idea to put it on the front line unless it is the defense relic
