Dances with Wolves achievement

Anyone have an issue doing this achievement? I had to save the game and come back to it, and now I'm around year 830 and have been slaughtering a wolf den and waiting for the spawn. The achievement is 67 wolves if my math is correct and I feel like I've done way more by now. Is it because I saved and came back to the game? Also my food is maxxed out is it not counting because of that?

Maybe a stupid question but..you aren't in story mode right?

Nope.. I got the achievement now from a different game that I played through.. All I could find was one post a long time ago of someone else having the same problem.. and the dev saying it was a bug they had tried to fix.. So for anyone else trying to do it I would recommend a game without saving and exiting to be safe.

I got the achievement ages ago, but 1,000 food from animals during a single map is pretty grindy. Don't know if it is one of those achivements that only unlock when you complete the mission.

it is a grind. it's 67 wolves, the bears don't count. and it unlocks right away you don't have to wait for a victory

Are there specific settings that make this quest work?
I have been slipping into madness trying to get the Tracker to register wolf kills. Will the wolf kills count and the tracker just doesnt show but its still unlockable?

It's pretty easy to get by accident on the Punitive Expedition chapter of Rig's Saga.

Make sure to play on Extreme, or the wolves won't spawn fast enough.

It only counts food that you actually gain, so if you are at max food, the kills don't count.
