On one occasion my region was stuck behind a wall (all the way around it) with no access to the enemy. There was only a bottleneck where the Jotun camps were, and obviously you can't go through them. So the enemy just wiped them out in two years as they always do and I couldn't do a single thing to stop them.
The fact that this level is usually over within the first two years should give you a clue as to how imbalanced it is. You need to get really, really, really, really lucky with the map generation or else you have no chance.
Deactivate the cheats from the AI aggression is ok when they a playing with the same rules.
Very poor testing of this patch.
I'd like to chime in here.
Have been playing Conquest on increasingly tougher difficulties and enjoying the struggle.
Pre-patch I stopped on on "Hard" and found it possible to win if I executed everything near flawlessy. Completed conquest with four or five clans. Enjoyable!
Now post-patch, I picked up up the game again and my half-completed Horse clan conquest.
Especially the "Befriend the Jotnar"-mission is extremely tough.
I cannot understand how the other clans are able to build such huge armies in such a limited amount of time.
I don't understand how a human player could be able to amass the amount of firepower to battle the 3 AIs, and on top of that, being able to move the army across the battleground fast enough to both defend the Jotnar, defend their own base and hopefully do a little offense now and then.
I really like the fact that you've tweaked the AI a bit, but this particular map feels a bit much.
Thanks!
I've tried numerous times to win on the "surrounded" map. It just isn't feasible to win. When I hit 7 population I was attacked by Lynx with 3 warriors, 1 shield bearer, and Brundr. 5 military units when I don't have enough wood to make an army. Even if I had put everything possible into early military, I could have had 2 warriors at best.

Here is an image to showcase. It's not about skill, there is literally no way to defend against that.
It's not impossible, but Surrounded is one of the harder maps. You have to take out one of the enemies basically within the first year. You aren't going to get Torfin in time for that, so don't bother. Just use standard warriors.
You have to go straight military tree.
Save scumming helps immensely, as whether or not the enemy attacks is RNG.
The AI is extraordinarily bad at defense, so if you attack a tile, and they actually bring their entire army to defend it, just attack a different tile instead, and they will leave you alone.
When they attack you, don't waste resources defending the tile. Just let them take it. They'll run home as soon as you lose it, and then you can just recolonize it.
In general, I think Ox's Conquest Missions are poorly chosen. Both Too Many Wyverns and Surrounded are missions that Ox is uniquely bad at, rather than missions that showcase what they are good at.
Your image left out the current date in the game, your resources, and all of the other relevant info needed to actually judge your position at that point.
Going to lock it here, but feel free to start a new thread.
Cheers,
James
