I have 32 bit computer. This game I bought a long time ago now won't run because they forced it to 64 bit.
Developers: I have 32 bit computer. I bought this game awhile back, funded it through early access. Now that it's released, they update it for the 200th time, and now I can't run the game any longer, since apparently it's 64 bit only? Is there a way to get a refund for a game that was sold one way then is now forced you to buy new OS to play it?

Also, what compels you to make it 64 bit after all this time? There is nothing graphically amazing or memory intensive about this game that needs it?

Hey there,

32 bit platforms should be able to run the game, were not making it incompatible with 32bit systems. Is the 64bit option not working for you? If not, try the OpenGL option instead.

Additionally, if you could carry out these steps, we might be able to identify the root of the issue.

- Go to the Steam Northgard Local Files , open a command by typing "cmd" in explorer navigation bar
- Run "Northgard.exe" from commandline

If it mentions "could not load xxxxx.hdll"

- Download the following tool http://www.dependencywalker.com/depends22_x64.zip
- Unzip it
- Launch depends.exe
- Choose file / open and go select your Steam Local Files, then choose the hdll file that could not load
- Wait until the application shows results (can take a few minutes)
- Save the result (will create a dwi file)
- Send us this file at james@shirogames.com

Cheers,
James

yeah only loads the 64 bit, no 32 bit option, which is a pain. No mention of not being able to load anything, just straight up 64 bit.

I can confirm that Northgard after the latest update doesn't prompt to launch the 32 or 64 bit version, it only does 64. I happen to agree with the OP. I can see little value in reworking this game to use 64 over 32 bit.

I was able to get it working by:
(backup files first in "*\steamapps\common\Northgard\")
copying the files at the root of "*\steamapps\common\Northgard\ng32\" into "*\steamapps\common\Northgard\" (overwriting existing files), then launching the northgard from Steam. It works for now, but no telling after the next update.

Hope this helps other people.

It's 2019 why do you still have a 32 bit computer?

It is 2019. Why switch to Microsoft's Win 10 unless you enjoy being datamined, having your data sold off to advertisers and who knows else just so Microsoft can make a profit on selling your personal information? And why switch from a working system where the license is already paid just to pay perpetual bills year after year to Microsoft? It is quite possible to set up old operating systems to be just as safe as newer ones.
Hey guys, we have re implemented the 32 bit launch option. We will continue to investigate the launch via DX64 issue and hopefully have it resolved (with everyone still able to launch the game, regardless of system) asap.

I bet you're using Android. Probably cloud backup as all the other plebs. You can't be using Apple since even more datamining.
And since you are so smart, you were still too stupid to upgrade your existing W7 license for no costs to W10 (which you can still do) and disable all the spying features? Something is off here...

Also: But staying with a nonpached, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up old malware distributing operating system as - probably in your case - XP is good?
WOW DUDE. WOW.

I'd straight up not offer a branch for x32 maggots any longer aside from bugs that can occur where x32 might be a temporary workaround.
The developers here are so nice to do this. For a percentage that should be nothing but ashamed of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ old skunk, that is the equivalent of driving a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Trabi.
Get real

Do you have a facebook account?
Or... STEAM account?
You are datamined constantly anyway. I was massive skeptic of win10, but its a good system and I hardly see any reason not to have it eventually.

This isn't warhammer 40k after all, ancient technology doesn't work better in our world.
Lets bring it down a level guys, absolutely no need for hostility. Other peoples preferences and opinions are of no concern to anyone but the person in question.

I stick to W7 (64) because (partly) I have old games and thought I had read problems with drivers meant would not run under W10. Is this not correct, or not correct now that we are far from original launch?

If you need to run old games, use gog, dosbox, any other emulator or a VM.
Anything else is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ yourself over with an OS that will cease to receive ANY updates in 26 days.

You can google everything you need to know for doing these things, and they might all be specific to your games. Stop being lazy :)
