If you look for a competitive mode that allows for a lot of teamplay, then search for something else, as interaction between players is none existant. All you can do is decide together on when to attack which area. Thats it.
No resource exchange or trade, no benefit in any other action you can perform for the other player.
Even if you have excess on food while your partners villagers starve to death, you can just watch him/her die or suffer.
That means theres also no synergy between clans. One clan being good at gaining a certain resource cant be supported by another clan.
Lets say you have a partner using Stag which is good at gaining fame and you want to win a fame victory, your partner cant help you doing that.
If you have a clan being good at generating food while another is great at generating gold, you cant exchange the resources, which means for example you cant use the excess food you generate to also feed the clan of your teammate.
Thats a real shame, as the game is generally working well, but playerinteraction is totally limited to warfare. For their first Strategy game its a solid one, but not a good one, as it lacks a lot of the features that are considered standard for a strategy game.
If however you only want to go solo vs solo anyway, go ahead.
Time for a multiplayer game can vary depending on who you play against. Many rightfully say that balance is broken which leads to very fast games, which is odd.
My sessions range from 45 minutes to like 20, if i play with a buddy it can take 1 1/2 hours.
Which is solid for a strategy game.
Northgard isn't competitive and for whatever mad reason, developers of all "recent" RTS games don't think an actual matchmaking is a good idea for whatever mad reason (imo that's sole killer of Spellforce and Ancestors Legacy multiplayer).
I mean, you can have fun games, but you aren't going to have competitive games.
Also, LAG is MASSIVE.
I'm not sure where you are getting the information from that you cannot trade with a team mate, or any player in the game, you most certainly can with the Trading Technology and a Trading Post. You can trade Food, Wood, Iron, or Stone.
However, the Snake Clan in particular can use Black Markets to trade and not give the recipient the resources.
Point is that there is NO playerinteraction and trading whatsoever.
Trading involves the ability to exchange resource of any amount for any amount the players decide to trade. Not a preset amount that has no impact for the other side.
The current trading with the trading post is NO trading, and if you really believe that then Northgard must be your first strategy game.
The trading post is a building supposed to benefit the player doing the trade, and the other side is even forced to trade, as you cant deny the transaction (because theres no disadvantage as you arent giving anything at all).
Thats another factor. It cant be trade because the other side doesnt give you anything.
All the trading post is doing is reducing your income of resource x and increasing your gold income.
The gol comes from nowhere, its not gold from the other player, thus you arent trading.
Sorry dude, but you got tricked into believing that what you do there is trading, but it isnt.
^^^ The only way I could justify this is if there was a risk/reward factor like having to escort a caravan across the map, with risk of it getting captured.
Horse can even give .6 Stone and Iron per month instead of just .3
You get Krowns for trading, and give krowns for trading, and in the AI's case you build relations.
I didn't get tricked into anything lol, I play this game a ton and can definitely notice the effects of trading for my CLan and other clans.
