Levels are 7 and 12 are the special level up levels. You get a primary stat or ability bonus( forgot which, been a long while) depending on which class you choose for those levels.

Do not quote me here

Fighter gets extra point hp each level up. mage gets allot less hp bonus but get a mana point or something, thief gets something else.

But the point is, which ever way you go, level 12 should be the same class as 7, so that can get you a couple really nice bonus'.

Fighter makes game much easier as you will not be so squishy as the other 2 classes.

Well if you wanna main Mage you should get both specialisations, because it's the only way to get that sweet tatoo that doubles your lvl1&2 spell slots. There is some merit in a Fighter/Mage approach, if you mainly want to engage with knives and back that up with buffs and some opening bombardment. In that case you should go Fighter spec first as the bonus strength point will skip the % increments of strength 18 and jump straight to 19.

Mebbeth.

More info on the class specialization bonuses can be found here.[torment.fandom.com] Though that page fails to mention the associated tattoos, which have significant effects.

If you feel "squishy" as a Mage, you're probably not using very good tactics in battle.

Unless you feel like grinding, just change to the class you want to use as soon as you can. There's no real need to obsessively min/max in this game.

Hi. I switched to Mage when gain access to Clerk' Ward. I 'd up my fighter level to level 14. Switch to thief when going to the Dead nations/many as One lair/doing Pharod's quest.

like they said, 7 and 12 are the main levels, and you want your main class to get the level 7 and 12 bonus's. If you are going to play a warrior or thief, you want to get warrior to 7/12 (thief ones suck). If you want to be a thief get thief-weapon specializations so that you'll be in 5 proficiencies in those (fists, daggers, etc). Thieves in the game make better warriors than warriors, especially if you get fighter 7/12 to boost your thieves combat ability for later.

If you want to be a mage character, stop fighter at level 6 (for the extra initial health) then go mage up 7 for the first mage specialization. Fighter to 9 ( i think thats where it stops at health) then mage the rest. that way you'll have that little extra health with the fighter levels but still get your 7/12 mage specializations.
