Report a translation problem
As far as the main story goes you're free to explore the lower ward and clerk's ward, and that's where you'll be continuing the main story. If you haven't yet, talking to lothar and all of his skulls might point you to the next destination.
You'll miss out on one scene by not seeing the silent king, but you already missed a lot by killing the dead nations anyway, and that's kind of how these games go: You don't really see everything in one playthrough. So maybe if you play the game in the future you can try to play that part of the game differently.
