I'm kinda surprised that you made it that far in the story without hitting level 12, though.
EDIT: * According to a Torment Wiki[torment.wikia.com] there's less than a 1/3 chance of having one show up in any given run through the undercity. So it's entirely possible to check for them many times before they show up.
The best way to farm them is to use a thief to explore while hidden, and only fight when you know one has spawned. (Advanced tactic: use your thief/thieves to solo the beast.)
Killing larval worms is pretty good XP, though. 6 worms will total 48,000 XP and you can kill them with a single Cloudkill. A Greater Glabrezu will net you 70,000 XP, but won't go down with a single spell.
