Also, installing OpenAL etc. didn't work out as well :(
Also, the install directory only had the "engine.lua" for me instead of a baldur.lua I inserted subsequently. Changing that one 0 to a 1 (it already was changed, though) didn't do anything for me as well, sadly. Still no improvement to get the game to run in any way.
EDIT:
It says the OpenAL32.dll is missing now and didn't complain before. I'll give you an update on the situation if it turns out that installing it again helps.
Downloading the OpenAL32.dll from the following source got the game to start for me at least:
https://www.dllme.com/dll/download/18305/openal32.dll
But now I'm getting audio and video issues, the first logo freezes and then it crashes. I'll investigate it further for now.
EDIT2:
When I skip all the logos etc. with the keyboard, I'm at least able to start the game now.
For anyone with the same or similar problems, try what's suggested in this thread:

If that won't help, try downloading the dll I posted from said link, unpack the dowloaded file and copy and paste the dll right into the install dir with the exe. And make sure to re-install OpenAL in general.
Good luck and enjoy!
