Problem Entering the Shattered Crypt?
I'm in the Weeping Stone Catacombs, and the game won't let me enter the sub-area "Shattered Crypt." I was playing the original less than a month ago and I didn't have problems. This area contains some magic items and a bunch of those vargoyle flying-head things. Has anybody else had issues entering this (or other) areas, and possibly found a solution/workaround?

Strange I didn't have any problem doing so.Are you able to open the door?
The door opens fine, but when I go to enter the area the screen rapidly fades to black (the smooth transition stuff). I turned off all the extra enhanced edition stuff and set the game to retro mode and it still won't let me into the area. I found a similar-looking issue with someone entering another area much later in the game (don't want to give spoilers), and their issue was caused by using straight line formation. I just tried it every whichway, including kicking everyone out of my group, and it still won't let me in. Tried it on two computers now, wtf!
I have the similar issue with enerting 2nd level of Mausoleum. If this can happen in multiple locations, I will wait for the fix before I continue to play... Shame.
Odd, i've had no issues myself and im quite far into the game at this point. Hopefully the support team will take a look at it now that you guys have reported that the said bug exist, hope you guys dont have to wait long for a resolution!

@Tymis

Our developers havenot been unable to reproduce the issue with the Shattered Crypt on PC or Linux.

Given you experienced this issue on 2 separate computers, can you please tell if there is something unique about your setup, such as possibly a mod?

Did you check Mausoleum perhpaps? The bug is exactly the same - when I try to enter the 2nd level of Mausoleum, the screen fades out like I was changing locations but I end up staying on level 1. I also tried on 2 systems: Lenovo Y700 (i7, 16GB RAM, 960M) with Win10 and Macbook Air 2015 with macOS Sierra. No mods.

@Seler

From our developers: can you please go into Gameplay options and see if Smooth Area Transitions are turned on? If it's so, please, try turning it off. Also, have you altered any other settings significantly, such as auto-pause or the compatibility renderer? Are you using the same save file for both systems?
I tried turning Smooth Area Transitions on and off - no results.

Yes, same file - cloud save file.

I fixed the bug by starting a new game... Still - if it wasn't at the very beginning of the story, I would be very crossed and just stop playing. Please, solve this as it seems it can happen in various locations. I have played original version of Torment many times and never had issues like this.

We've determined that there is something that occurred in the savegame, so yes, a new game should solve it. We're still trying to figure out what could have caused this save game corruption, but the good news is that it appears to be rare. We'll continue to investigate.
Hi Julius, thank you for addressing this. I don't have a unique setup on my second computer, it was a freshly reformatted laptop. However, the first computer this occurred on had both the GOG and original Planescape: Torments installed. They were installed in different locations from this, and I did not try to copy over any saves/mods, etc. The first computer also has this version installed on a secondary hard drive, and running multiple monitors. Those don't seem like possible culprits to me, but they're the only unique stuff about the original, and I imagine if it follows the save game that could be why I had the issue on my laptop.

As far as attempts to fix it, I did everything except starting a new game. I verified my steam files, I went back to a save prior to the first time I encountered this (didn't do that on laptop, those saves were gone by then). I turned off all the special enhanced edition features, and also zoomed in to the classic view. I tried kicking my team members and going solo, I tried zoning to other areas and kicking them out of group there as well. After doing all that I stopped playing for a while, loaded it up on my laptop and had the same issue, at which point I posted about it instead of continuing my tests.

What appears to be the cause is that the characters are rapidly entering the area, but it's failing to start loading. With the smooth transitions it's very easy to see because the screen repeatedly fades to black as the characters touch the transition mark. Without smooth transitions I think the same thing is occurring, except it looks like the characters are all just standing on the transition mark without anything happening. It's worth noting, that if I try multiple times with smooth transitions on the game will reliably crash (I haven't tried this without smooth transitions, because I stopped testing it, and didn't like my game crashing). Possibly a memory leak?
