A) This is the only copy you can buy now, not counting used physical copies.
B) Even if you own the original and apply all those mods, it is still unstable. It will seem fine at first, but later in the game it crashes often within indoor areas, to the point where it might be impossible to finish.
B - It works fine for me, never crashed once, well, since I fixed the problem with the magic. Just finished it recently.
Regardless, thanks for the answer, I suppose this is a good version as any to get once the original stops working altogether.
There as been alot of extra fixes that mods didnt do. You can look up the full list on beamdogs forum. Personally I am happy I bought this. I replayed 7 years ago and I had huge troubles with stability etc back then even with mods etc. So far I have not had any trouble with the EE
There is achivements as well in this game, not that they matter much for most of us, but small extra stuff like that is included.
The comparison I've made looks even worse in reality, I wasn't aware about some of the features that were already present in the original version like having the option to increase fps (in GOG version the default is 40 just like in EE and you can easily increase it up to 60 via torment.ini file).
All the screens are scaled now, and if they can't be (like spell effects without source code), the game actually zooms in on the effect, so you don't see any visual artifacts like a square of spell effect.
So much better. And I'm not even talking about the other ease-of-use things like no action circle or container highlight (yes, it spoils one quest and makes another bit easier) but that's still a huge boon.
@Goral - Haters gonna hate.
