You have to wait for Endgame to do that.
You can use it after you meet your previous incarnations at the Fortress of Regrets to find out your true name and get a lot of XP

I would take the spoiler out, but I am glad the OP isn't interested in spoilers. Lots of new players will ask "How does ___ get used?" since this game has tons of weird foreign objects. You'll find out in time, or you won't, and if you won't you will still be able to finish the game.

I lost the bronze sphere on my most recent playthrough, lol.
