There actually was a multiplayer mode like this in the original Korean release in 2001. It's not in the fan patch though.
Sirlion Sep 7, 2017 @ 8:07am
That mode was never finished. It never shipped with the game. You can still retrieve the unfinished maps and open them in the BSP viewer of Half Life, WinBSP if I recall correctly. Been years and years though... there were no textures applied to it, only raw geometry.
I recall a school map, a metro, and some smaller locations unidentifiable without textures.

Ah, I see. I had it in my head that it was just something that wasn't able to be recovered. I know there was an FPS multiplayer mode that was actually complete though lol.

Nope. None of the multiplayer functionalities were finished in the end. Sure there's code for it, but it's still buggy beta stuff never released.

a multiplayer chasing game mod can be fun, students must escape, janitors must hit student players and ghost players must hit students and janitors XD

mods can allows new unofficial stories also, why not ? new fan-made scripted situations, not canon episodes, different dialog texts...

the main issue can be copyright of models, texture and environments if devs are considering future DLC content.
Sirlion Sep 7, 2017 @ 10:16am
I dont think copyright is the issue, but the fact that this game is made in Unity if I recall correctly, which in itself already has a free editor. Programming a new one specifically made for this game only would be complicated and time consuming

I know this is old but.. if someone made a no Janitor mod I would be happy because honestly I like the games atmosphere but... the Janitor is just a huge annoyance.. do you love sitting in a classroom for 10 minutes waiting for him to get out of the hallway that has locked doors everywhere so you can't even sneak around him? or have a Janitor that's so OP that he doesn't have to see / hear you but will go in the room your in anyways? seriously I love this game but.. I feel like the Janitor could use some work on his Ai.

I'm not saying it's hard most of the time you can just run around him but if you're going for certain achievements he's just bothersome.

(I know he's nowhere close to as bad as he was in the PS2 version from what I've seen on YouTube but still..) I watched a LP of this game several years ago (forgot 90% of what I saw) but.. I was excited for this port and I'm loving it but man that Janitor.

Also White Day has to have one of the most haunted schools in the gaming world because seriously.. every room / area has some tragic story. xD (random bit I wanted to add because why not)

ngl, i would like a no janitor mod, i only got the game because i thought it was a mainly story driven game with intresting ghosts, not hide from the janitor every 10 seconds and occationally do a puzzle with chinese characters THAT NOT EVEN A FREAKING WALKTHROUGH HELPED ME WITH!!!!

Would him ignoring a player would be enough? Cause the hack I have made to support mouse inversion and high fps has it now.

There are no mods for this game, unfortunately, but there is a cheat engine table if anyone wants to play with a harmless janitor (he will be walking around but you can ignore him). I played the game on PS4 with the janitor and on PC without and honestly playing without a janitor was much more enjoyable. There was no danger, except for bosses, but the game's atmosphere makes up for it.

I hope the sequel abandons the idea of a janitor-like character and instead focuses on ghosts and mysteries. The janitor was really annoying, especially in the second building.

The janitor in the second building can be despawned with just a simple trick..

this janitor has the worst following mechanics I've seen in any horror game to date, period. idk if it was a glitch but first time he spawned he stood outside the door a solid 5 min before rushing in anyway. ffs

Yeah the janitor is ruining it for me. It's a great horror game exploring the school and never knowing when a ghost is going to appear. Then this goofy looking bastard shows up and starts chasing me around with a baseball bat and it turns into a Scooby-Doo episode. I can practically hear Yakety Sax playing while I run to the nearest bathroom to hide.
