ahh, as it looked like you had to get it to slam its head on the spikes, as why else would they be there.

I think forcing it to slam it's head on the spikes would be a cooler way to defeat this boss(and i thought it was the way). it seems to me like this little robot would rather try to outsmart a big monster rather than try to throw some rocks at him. but from what i understand it's not possible currently
