Cant get a golden ship in the shipyard.

I tried like 8 times to create an golden Egg (the ship) but all I got was purple... 8... times.
Is that normal? Can you even get a golden ship (3 upgrade slots)?

Gold is "Legendary" I guess, but what are "upgrade slots?" I can create these ships but what do I put in the slots?

Yes Gold meant Legendary. In the shipyard of a station you can put modifiers in those empty upgrade slots. Things like auto targeting or base resistances against Heat, Kinetic or Energy... etc.

Where do you get the modifiers?

You can select them. You go to a station and select shipyard. There choose a ship and go to the tab that lets you install them. They all cost credits and are available for every ship. But if you ship is from veniri (or any other faction) your shipyard also has to be from that faction.

Is there any point to scanning planets? I end up wasting all my money and never get anything of value. I even tried a save scrum where I put all my points into +% search chances, same result.

You can find alien tech by scanning. Can unlock the hidden ones that way.
Pretty rare - maybe can find 1 by scanning all planets in an alien "domain" systems.

Too expensive early - but later just scan all planets once until you get all tech from that alien type.

Yes you can find:
-Minerals and other sellable junk
- Modules
-Money
-Fuel
-Technology
-Blueprints (the hidden ones too)

Just go to a station then Sell and click on Sell all Junk, this will sell all Minerals and other things that have no use and can only be sold.

You shouldnt scan early game, it costs too much.
You can research something to have a higher chance of finding those things on planets.
